Community Service Projects

Hi Sorors,

Please share with us some of the projects that your chapter is currently doing or has in the works!

ZetaAce

P.S. I will be back to share some of my chapter's activities in a bit.

Here are some ideas I have:
So Sweet History
·Pass out lollipops w/ information about the achievements of Black America's unsung heroes attached to them.
Greek Family Feud
·Based on the television show played by members of GLOs(One org. against the other)
Black Love Day
Alternative to Valentine's Day (Feb. 13th)
·Stresses the importance of love of self in the black community
·Soul Food Dinner
·Bring a present for Secret Valentine
Night of Beauty
·Skin care information, facials, manicures, pedicures
Get help from Mary Kay or Avon (usually provide services for free)
Blu's Clues
·Scavenger hunt.
Adopt a Vacant Lot
·Clean up vacant lots throughout the city. Invite neighborhood residents to participate
Morning Sleep-In
·Volunteer at a homeless or battered women's shelter to entertain children while mothers rest
And I know a lot of chapters have Zeta Week but I think Dove Daze is cuter! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Or Dove Dayz or something more creative like dedicating each week in a month to one of our principles. Everyone has a week...

I'm so glad you posted this topic Zeta Ace, since I'm the community service person for my chapter. Some of the things my chapter is involved in:
-Adopt A Street
-March of Dimes(Walk America) scheduled for May, 2002
-Book Drive for children in homeless shelters.
-Christmas Party for elderly in Nursing home.
-Next year(early December), I'm actually planning a Blue & White Women in Business and Politics Expo(planning still in the works)
-Personal finance forums.
-Our Archonette chapter has been inactive for the past couple of years. If God is willing it will be reactivated by Jan, 2002.

As the year goes on I know there will be more added.

I feel that there is more to do now, but being new to Zetadom(initiated on June 23, 2001!:D ), there is still a lot I have to learn.

BTW, Dove1920---> I like your ideas! Put them to work soror!
I am going to check out Make A Difference Day. I forgot about it.

YES. :D The Ladies of Eta Alpha Zeta Chapter in Fort Myers, Florida are doing a roadside cleanup on Make a Difference Day. We are also having a brunch for area sorors who are not members of the chapter. We are encouraging them to join us for the cleanup as a part of the County-wide Make a Difference Project and then the chapter is taking them out to eat after the cleanup.

We plan to have:
Career planning workshop

for our ongoing community service projects. we work closely with the Community Service office at my school. We also organize a group of students:

to go a soup kitchen at least twice a month.
to Walk (AIDS Walk, Diabetes Walk, Walk for homelessness, march of dimes)

We are always busy, but we have fun all the time :)
