I have been pondering a long time about the differences of the
NIC groups as a whole compared to those which are not NIC...
As a rule, non-NIC groups are not home owners
that's not bad, just different
As a rule, non-NIC groups are newer, fewer alumni, not geared
to homecomings, other doins' Not bad, just different foci.
Sometimes non-NIC groups count graduate chapters, alumni
chapters and undergraduate chapters in their totals, but this
misleads at times in the presence/total strength factor.
Some of the NPCs have a tremendous number of alumnae
chapters in cities, often more of them than the undergrad ones.
Nothing wrong with that, we are all social and networking folks.
but the presentation of numbers is often misleading.
Most of the non-NICs do not have the membership sizes, and a
few permit dual memberships. I belong to eight, some now are
participating somewhat in a wider scale than olden times, and
some are co-ed (they even let GIRLS in!). No big deal.
Times have changed. Some of these professional groups, once
boy scouts or flugel horn players, contribute much more now..
HOWEVER, a recent post suggestion a council of sorts for those
non-collegiate groups...that will be a real headache, and it will
water down somewhat the selectivity in some areas Guess we'll
wait and see. But we are collegians...let us get our grades first.
Finally, there will be some who will find this presentation to be one of a threating nature...so, for those, stuff it.
