All things college...

My company is working on a a new product that merges security with advertising. A totally new concept. I can't really go into detail at this time due to intellectual property issues. What I can tell you is this product/concept is not internet oriented and is being geared for larger state (10,000 +) colleges and universities.

Ipod, Coke, Nike are big advertisers in college newspapers and on college campi. What other big brands can you name that advertise on your campus? This advertising can take many forms - print, billboard, contests you name it.

I really need the names of products and their uses I may not be aware of that college age students use.

Honestly, I can't think of many "brands". Just Coke machines. There's the obvious pizza companies as well.

umm...travel companies (STA travel).

Health clubs sorta.

Tanning places/salons

That's all I'm coming up with.

Bacardi, Captain Morgan, Miller Light, Bud Light, Cuervo, etc. all do tons of promotions at Penn State (having games at downtown bars with prizes of t-shirts, keychains, beverage cozies, etc.)

A lot fo the local restaurants and bars advertise in the paper

Around beginning of the school year, football season, and end of the school year (book buy-back season), the local bookstores have ads in the paper and on tv

As far as national brands, I think there's been some random promotions here and there for anything students use (Axe bodyspray, deoderant, face wash, toothpaste, etc.)

Mostly Pizza Hut and Burger King and Verizon. But I'm still focused on the fact that you said "college campi"..........

Banks were always big advertisers at my school, trying to get students to open checking/saving/credit accounts with them.

Banks and cell phone companies are great potential advertisers.

Thanks for the suggestions all:D

they were always giving out "goody bags" of personal care items in the dorms and at the bookstore.
- make up samples
- body care / soap / shaving needs
- feminine products

HBADPi 05-19-2006 04:32 PM

- Late night drunk food companies: easy mac, ramen noodles, etc
- Condom companies

We always had concerts or on-campus events (video game tournaments, inflatables, etc) sponsored by national companies. Things like XBox, Dentyne Ice Gum, different Soda brands, etc. Then the Bacardi girls who had out drink specials and special invites at bars, various alchoholic beverages that fly balloons with their message over football games. Or trucks with "billboards" attached to them with special deals for restuarants or apartment complexes. Mostly stuff like that I can think of.

Credit Card Companies for one!

Herbal Essences has been sending our sororities "coloring party kits" that have something to do with raising money for their philanthropy (according to the box). Don't ask me how it works...

They also get Playtex samples every year. We also have Aaron's (I think) rental furniture advertise on campus. Dell Computers too.

Target and Toyota came to my college at random times of the year, it drew a crowd.

Campi Discussion

It's somewhere on that thread. Although you have to wade through a bunch of other stuff to get to it. Try the 2nd or 3rd page.
