GLO that exist outside the Devine 9

Just a question? Why is it that some of the GLO within the Devine 9 are extremely disrespectful to other GLO that are not? Usually its the sororities that have an issue, with other non D9 sororities. Just wondering what the beef?

I'll bite

^^^Y'know, I've been wondering that ever since I joined Greekchat (actually long before that), and I've been here for 6 years.

If you find out, please let me know.

;)

Does it really matter? Do you REALLY care? Non-NPHC BGLOs need to keep doing what they need to do in order to accomplish what they need to accomplish.

For clarification's sake, always remember that this is all based on your personal experiences and perception. You haven't been in enough settings where non D9 organizations are widely accepted--enough to the point where the disrespectful people aren't a blip on your radar. You also haven't been in enough settings where the D9 fraternities are the ones doing the majority of the disrespecting, not the sororities. I've been in both kinds of settings--outside of these message boards.

Lastly, it's spelled D-I-V-I-N-E.

After reading RainMan's post--->I said "outside of these message boards" b/c you can't always gauge reality based on message boards--(a) The majority of NPHC posters are women, so it would seem like the women NPHC members are the ones with the majority of the strong opinions on a subject matter, and (b) these boards are a subpopulation of hundreds of thousands of members who may or may not care as much about a topic as they pretend to care when they are typing about it.

Isnt the question more important than just worrying about a spelling lesson?:(

A valid question that no one seems to want to answer.

It might just help give many people on GC a lot more insight.

I think a more important question is: why are some members of greek organizations disrespectful to each other in general? Although there are people who are truly devoted to greek unity, I have seen such utter disrespect from people who are supposed to be sisters and brothers in greek life. I don't think it just exists between NPHC and non-NPHC sororities. However, I do think it may be a little more rampant among organizations with smaller chapters because, although quality is more important than quantity, we all want our organizations to be able to survive. And when other organizations pose a threat to that, you can expect some sort of animosity. It shouldn't be so, but it exists.

Right. There are many discussions among NPC and IFC members in which they talk about which organizations are the ones that "count" and campus rivalries.

I answered the question before I gave the spelling lesson.

Such topics have been rehashed so many times that one would be mislead to believe that it's an important issue.

Tom Earp 05-14-2006 04:33 PM

???
And isnt it an important issue in spite of Your retoric?

No.

It's only as important as the rhetoric makes it.

You can always choose not to participate in such topics if they are that much of a nuisance to you, as opposed to b[el]ching and complaining about them.

Just food for thought.

Unity is absolutely absurd. The only time my GLOWTFOMGBBQ? would agree with anyone is to vote in an ASG president, and secure Greek dominance over the campus. The other houses aren't my brothers, they didn't earn my letters, what respect should I have of them?

No, I'd rather bring you some cheese to go with your whine, with all this talk about food and all...
