Fun Holiday traditions!
What are some fun holiday traditions that your chapter has??
Here are a few of mine http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Thanksgiving- In addition to collecting food fort he needy at our annual November prerush event (which is a big hit on campus), all the sisters get together for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner in the chapter room. It is so much fun! Also for Christmas we have a sisterhood Christmas party during which we trim the tree, eat cookies http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif and drink hot cider and each year all the new initiates bring an ornament that is special to her, puts her year and name on it, and donates it to the house forever. Its a very special and FUN night for us! I thought this would be a fun little topic http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif justy ------------------ DZ sisters never end! |
Hello dzdusty. I hope you're having a happy Holiday seasons. Well no one has responded to your post cause they're too busy worrying about what others think about the organizations they pledged to committ their lives too. I guess I'll be the first one to answer your question. Well in my family we really only have one tradition that we do every holiday season. It was started by my grandmother. What it is is that every year we take a look at the new and popular family board games (i.e Scattergories, Taboo, Guesstures) and we buy it. On Christmas, after dinner, we play it. I know that might sound cheesy, but we've been doing it since I can remember and it's fun.

Happy Holidays to my Greek family!
Because we end the semester early (first week of December!) that's when we have our Christmas semi-formal. This year we held it at a banquet hall at the Marine Corps base. It was very beautiful and the TKEs came in numbers to support us! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif At the last chapter meeting of the semester we had a Senior Aloha night for the three seniors graduating. We all signed big posterboards, gave them leis, and each shared a special memory about them. These seniors gave 4 1/2 years to AGD, so they'll be missed! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif We also had an auction with things donated by the alumnae and Junior Circle using our AlphaGam dollars we've earned for the semester. It's a good way to "buy" neat Christmas presents for people. A lot of my sisters aren't from here and they're all with their respective families on the mainland and I'll be missing them till January 8th. In the meantime, whoever's left over here in Hawaii will probably get together with the TKEs for their *informal* semi-formal. The TKEs social chair has rented a gigantic suite for all the Hawaii Greeks to get together during break...and I hope this will become an annual tradition for all of us! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ *I'm an Alpha Gam...Yes I am, Yes I am!* |

A fun holiday tradition that we do is a pre-Christmas dinner. We rent out a hall for a night and all of us come early to make dinner. We usually have spaghetti(because it is easy to make) and then we bake cookies and eat them while they are still warm...yum!!! Then we exchange Christmas gifts with our bigs and littles. It's a lot of fun because it is a chance for all of our sisters to be together one last time before everyone goes home for winter break.

We had a chapter-wide gift exchange and dessert party every year. You never knew if the gift you opened would be naughty or nice. I still remember quite clearly the edible underwear package that our General Advisor opened!
