Mercy College?
 

Has anyone heard of Mercy College in New York? If so, what have you heard about it in terms of reputation, academics, etc.?

If anyone here attended Mercy, what was your experience like? I'm STRONGLY considering transferring to Mercy but I want to get an idea of other people's opinions and thoughts :-)

Since they don't have greek life, you may not find anyone who is on GC and has been to Mercy.

Went there for Graduate school, for my Masters in Education. I was part of the NYC Teaching Fellows program. The little I saw of the Dobbs Ferry campus during orientation looked really nice. I spent a fair amout of time at the Manhattan campus (34th & 6th Ave, great location!) and Bronx campus (new and all but very inconvienient all the way on the east side). All in all I was pretty satisfied.

I got the feeling that they do a lot to help transfer students & those going back to school after taking time off, etc.

If I am accepted I will attend the Manhattan Campus mainly, majoring in Behavioral Sciences and then hopefully earing my Teacher's Certification in Early Childhood Education....what was student life like there? I know there is no Greek Life which is sad, but being as I am a Sister of Phi Beta Psi, a non-collegiate sorority,m not having on-campus Greek Life won't affect me, and I will still be here in NYC so I don't have to leave my chapter.

I went to look at the Manhattan Campus today and only saw one floor with one empty student lounge....do many students attend this campus? Is there any kind of social scene whatsoever?

Did you find the admissions process to be difficult or stressful, or do they really take the time to get to know you as an individual and help you along the way?

I didn't have a regular admissions process as I was accepted there because I was part of the NYC Teaching Fellows...I didn't have to apply to Mercy, the fellows placed me there.

I found the social scene ok...I mostly hung out with the people in my classes. We were all Fellows & 1st or 2nd year teachers in the Bronx so we had a lot of similarities. The Manhattan Campus was always a little empty tho. Like any college, the social scene is what YOU make of it.
