Fraternal/ Sorority Solidarity in the Workplace?
 

Do you feel obligated to maintain fraternal/sorority solidarity in the workplace?

What if your co-worker/bruh or soror is knowingly messing things up at the job?

For those who answer yes to the first question, what is your limit? How far will you go to cover for them?

I wouldn't necessarily call it solidarity, but more lookin out. If they were messing up I would be the first one to pull their coat tail. But I wouldn't take the fall for them.

I'd certainly be helpful and look out for him, as I'm sure he'd do for me. But a true Alpha man is going to handle his business and not put you in a precarious situation in the first place. Everybody's got to be professional.

I know of Alphas who have provided references for other bruhs (brothers they did not know personally) on the strength of the fraternal affiliation alone.

Yes, I would maintain that solidarity in the workplace. Some people perceive that I somehow may have an in with my supervisor who is also a Soror, but that is just not the case. She advises me and provides a standard to which I adhere to so I wouldn't jeopardize her- or my own professional reputation on the job. One can only lean on the shield so to speak- only so much- I wouldn't take a fall for anyone, and hope that I could assist that Soror in whatever way I can.

Great responses everyone... I believe in fraternal solidarity in the workplace as well, but there is a limit. I have yet to find a limit to it though because I've never been pushed too far. All of my brothers are in the realm of education the older ones mentored me and I in turn mentor others. And like Lady of Pearl mentioned, we kinda hold ourselves to a higher standard than anyone else. My mentor pushes me above and beyond his expectations of me. Thank you all for contributing to the conversation thus far...
