Family Heirloom... A Mumified Baby!

The corpse of a mummified baby that belongs to a family spurs a probe. WHDH's Janet Wu reports...

I hadn't even heard anything about this story; I must have missed it on the local news (I usually watch WHDH for local news).

That is absolutely one of the weirdest things I've ever seen or heard of in my life.

I saw this on the news, read in on the web as well...and it is certainly bizarre. In the early 1900s, bizarre family heirlooms were common..for example "mourning brooches" with bits of the deceased's hair woven in them.

Keeping a corpse is way out there...but for that time, I could see it happening. Just a step or two away from keeping family members cremains on the mantle.

It is sad that the state may not let family members have the mummified remains back. I think most appropriate would be to encase them in glass and return them to the family.

I hope the "family" remains together.

I saw the story on television. They guy was hold the remains in his hands and talking about how the awsome-ness the 'heirloom'.
HIS BARE HANDS. HOLDING DEAD REMAINS IN HIS BARE HANDS.

Too gross for words.
