Need interview attire help
 

So I am having my 2nd interview this friday. The first interview I wore a black suit, with a white and black striped shirt under the jacket.

Now when I graduated with Interior Design I worked at first design job and didnt have to dress nice, then my last job as a office manager for the past 2 1/2 years we had a very casual dress. Now I need help.

I want to wear something springlike instead of the black suit.

What color suit should I buy? I don't want to invest a lot in one as I have been losing weight and don't think I will be the same size 5 months from now. So I need something that looks nice, but isnt too much since Ill have to get something new later.

What are good colored suits? Do I get a brown one? I dont think pink or purple are colors to get, but maybe Im wrong. I can tell you what colors to put in your house and what things to do to make it look great, but I cant always tell you the best clothing to wear.

Any advice would help...

Maybe a classic light beige or light grey? Since the colors are lighter, they'd work really well for spring/summer, and you can try a variety of different colors with them for your mood...lavender with the grey, cream with the beige, etc.

i agree. the neutral tones are always good, and pastels work nicely too, especially with a navy blue suit.

go with colors you look good in. pretend you are the decorations and the interview is the house! what would you have to wear to look best in that environment?

im a big fan of pinstripes. always looks good with a bright color, like turquoise or pink. then again, what's the interview for? you dont wanna go all willy-nilly if it doesnt fit the feel of the place or the interviewer.

and dont worry about the growing out of suits. they can always be given/traded with people (im sure one of your sorority sisters could use it sometime) or given to Dress for Success.

Yes, its linen...I have no idea if its the fabric of the season though, I just did a search and found that image on www.victoriassecret.com and posted it because I liked it. :)

Don't get a linen suit - it wrinkles and in many circles it's too early to wear linen anyway.

Can you just wear a pastel shirt under your black suit? Most "experts" (whoever they are) recommend sticking with a dark suit. Although if this job that you are interviewing for is in interior design, you may be able to get away with a lighter suit...

I say stick with a black suit & a pastel/springy shirt as an accent piece.

Jcrew has stuff in "parchment," which is a very nice beige color. I think something like that would be fabulous, maybe with a pink or aqua shirt -- as long as you didn't wear clunky dark shoes.

What kind of job is this? I'm an architect, and although I wore a pretty conservative suit to my interview, the idea of wearing a lighter suit or something a little more individualistic seems to be the norm.

If it is a proffesional Job Position, then dress accordingly.

Either Charcoal or Gray. Maybe a Tan/Beige.

No throat revealing or deep cuts. Wear a tie, of casual Nature or a Blouse with a High Neck cut.
Jewelry, subtle, plain string of pearls. Casual dressy shoes to go with your ensamble.

No Spiked Heels!:D No Push Up Bras!:D

I agree with the not showing cleavage...a girl came into the place I used to work and did this...NOT attractive.

I wear spike heels all the time though...I did to my interview too. And I got the job, so as long as you aren't wearing like a mini skirt and asking people if they wanna have a good time, those should be fine.

Me too. I wouldn't go buying a new suit.

Sticking with your current suit and just buying a new blouse to go underneath it might not be a bad idea if you're in the process of being between sizes.
If you're really interested in getting a new suit, I'd agree that staying with neutral colors for the suit color would be best. I purchased a new grey suit with a light pinstripe a few months back that's worked great for my current job.

Light gray or tan are more casual and can be dressed up with bright or light colors-- very versatile and a good piece to have in your wardrobe along with at least one dark (black or navy) suit.

I'm bumping this because I have an interview in 2 weeks that i'm super nervous and excited about. It's literally the job of my dreams, and if the phone interview and email communication is any indication of how things are going to go, I think I'll be pleased at the end of the process.

However, I wanted to ask what you guys think about appropriate interview attire. I have a black suit that I wear to just about every single interview I go to. However, I am NOT comfortable in it, and I think it shows. I try to give off the best impression I have, and I dont know if it's just that this suit isn't cut right for me, or if I'm just more relaxed and laid back than a suit makes me feel, so therefore I feel stuffy and appear stuffy when wearing one...

Is there anything else that would be appropriate to wear to an interview? If so, can you show me some pictures of appropriate looking outfits that might be okay?

I have a feeling I'll err on the side of caution and wear the suit anyway, because I'd be paranoid not to. Any ideas on how to get over the stuffiness feeling so that I can give off the appearance that I'm alot more confident and comfortable than I actually am?
