Have you heard of Progressive Black Men, Inc
The mission statement of Progressive Black Men, Inc is to eradicate negative stereotypes placed on those of African descent, especially men, through academic excellence, communal support, and the fellowship of our brothers.
In the summer of 1989 on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee , Florida , a group of friends were formed through a summer enrichment program for minorities at the institution. During the fall semester the gentlemen established academics as their foundation; however, their participation in community service and campus activities created a bond much stronger than friendship. The twelve gentlemen made a proposition to create an organization that fostered service, student enrichment, and genuine brotherhood. Thus on November 27, 1989 , the birth of Progressive Black Men was established! From their website: www.progressiveblackmen.com/index_home.htm What does everyone think about this organization? |
I had heard of this organization. I was more familiar with Concerned Black Men but I have heard of this one also.

I haven't heard of this organization, but I don't get out like I used to. :) I think it is good when people work together for positive goals.

my senior year of college, the chapter of P.B.M. came to my school, Univ. of FL, and chartered a chapter of the organization on campus. quite a few of my really good friends were a part of chartering the org. on our campus. very nice group of men.
as with anything, i am all about anything that encourages us as a people to walk the walk, set our standards higher, promote positivity, and reminds us of our obligations to ourselves and the wider community. |
Good men doing Positive things!

Good
I think any organization that has a positive goal in mind that strives to keep that goal is always a great thing. Plus it gives college students more leadership training and organization choices.
