Issues with Advisors
I'm an advisor for one of our west coast chapters and lately I've been dealing with a lot of crap from a fellow sister/advisor. She tries to undermine my authority and puts me down in front of sisters and other GLO members. Others have had problems with her spreading rumors that have been completely unwarranted. Several of us have tried to confront her about her behavior but all she does is lie about it some more. I'm kind of tired of the BS and need some help on how to deal with this situation since the only thing you get from her when you confront her is more lies. It's really frustrating and upsetting for me especially when this was someone I use to confide in and go to for advice and I feel that for the first time I'm seeing her true colors. :(
What should I do?? |
Oh wow, that sucks. I'm sorry :(
I would think if someone was a bad advisor, and pretended she was a good one and very knowledgable, and then put down her own sisters that it would catch up to her some day. Don't let her get you down because after a while people learn the truth. -Rudey --OC love baby! |
Time to call your CPD
If you've already confronted her, the next thing to do is to document the situations you have described, steps you took to try to solve the problems and then send those onto your CPD, requesting that the matter be addressed or that one of you be reassigned to a new chapter.
It seems to me you have taken the mature route to directly deal with this person and now its time to get your CPD involved. Trust me, the CPD wants happy advisers who will stay to help grow the chapters and its officers. She'll work with both of you to find the best possible solution. And if this other adviser is dragging down the chapter, so she may be asked to resign, which will solve your problem-- the only new challenge will be finding a new adviser (but given the number of active alumnae in SoCal this should not be a difficult task). Call me later if you want to vent!! PLAM ETA: A divided advisory board or problem adviser can take an entire chapter down with her, so don't be afraid to speak up to the Powers that Be. |
Have you spoken to other members of your sorority about this? How do they feel? What is her stature like in the sorority? Is she a big wig? Or is she just one of those that shouldn't really talk much? I don't know, I'm thinking perhaps you shouldn't say anything because the sorority might be her life, and if you take that away from her, then what does she have left?
Well whatever the situation is, I certainly don't envy you. Sorry about this. Viva La Orange County! |
I agree w/ adpiucf. This needs to be escalated to whomever is in charge of advisors. If she lies to her peers, there's no telling what she's telling the chapter members or how she treats them.

HBADPi,
Maybe you should think about talking to her one more time before you go to the authorities. There could be a reasonable explanation for her behavior. Perhaps you do suck as an advisor. :p Or perhaps she's just a pathalogical liar. If that's the case, I say turn her in. ADPi is too good to be dragged down by bad advisors. Sending So. HBADPi-
You're always going to run into shady people. And 9 times out of 10, these people tend to get their rocks by belittling others. While I totally understand your frustration, best advice, ignore her. If she's not directly involved with your chapter than who cares. She's not worth the time and energy to be upset over her. Easier said than done. People are people whether they are sisters or not. And not everyone gets along. I have sisters that I do not get along with at all, and frankly thats fine with me. I just don't associate with them or let them get to me at all. Hugs~ |
Just kick her in the boobs...that should take care of the problem.

chloroform --> motel --> bathtub filled with ice --> sell her kidneys for $20,000 each

as you know, i kill bitches. want me to take her out for you?

Is this Advisor from another Chapter? You did not make it real clear. If from another Chapter, then, She should worry more about Her Chapter and not Yours. If she is starting problems in You Local area, I would definityl talk to an Area Coordinator or what ever title YOu use and discuss it quickly. Please diregard the twit that stated maybe You are a bad Advisor. They probably dont do anything with their Chapter. |
Well I decided I wanted to see if I could resolve this between us since we are adults so I contacted her. Its been over a week since I got in touch with her and I have not heard back.
Lesson learned: With age does not come maturity...seriously grow up, face what you did, and just apologize! |
