A 23-year-old mother is dead, and Police say a drunk driver going the wrong way on the interstate is to blame.

Amanda Metivier was heading home on Interstate 40 early Saturday morning. She was near the Cherry Street exit, when officers say Dipeshrumar Patel hit her head-on.

Metivier has an 18-month old daughter named Nevaeh; heaven spelled backwards.

Friends say the single mom and secretary at a Knoxville law firm had aspirations of being an attorney.

Patel is in critical condition at UT Medical Center.

Amanda was my best friend. I met her my first year in Alpha Gamma Delta. She was truly like a sister.
