Senior Gifts
Ladies, I am very uncreative and need some assistance. I'm in charge of putting together the senior gifts for Founder's Day. I need to write a cute little note basically saying, congratulations, blah blah blah, welcome to the Alumnae world, and your first year is 'free' (no dues required).
Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated. My creativeness is severely lacking right now!!!!!!! |
How much money per senior?
|
I've already purchased their gifts. I need to put a little card or note inside the gift bag.

peanutttu (I laugh every time I see that name!), when do you need this by? Is it on a scroll or something? Usually rhymed?
|
I need it by next Saturday. It doesn't have to rhyme or anything. It doesn't have to be anything fancy schmancy. Just a little cute saying or something.... The seniors are usually just given a gift. This year I bought them several little items so they will be in a gift bag. Last year we have VERY little participation from the chapter at Founder's Day and this year there are 48 that have RSVP'd. Only 9 are seniors and I'd like to reiterate to them in this little note that ADPi isn't just 4 years of college.....it continues after graduation.

How about this?
I believe that my sorority ... is a way of life.
Dear Senior, Welcome to the alumnae phase of membership in Alpha Delta Pi. There's never been a better time to get involved in the XYZ Alumnae Association! As a member, you will have access to alumnae socials, RMH activities and collegiate/alumnae mixers. And more! And the best part is.... It's FREE! Your first year of member dues are complimentary. Consider it our way of saying thanks for your 4 years of hard work in college and your service to the sorority. As always, if you have any questions or have a great idea, please contact the Alumnae President (NAME/CONTACT INFO). Be sure to ask about the fantatic leadership and social opportunities available in the XYZ Alumnae Association! Remember, our sorority is for a lifetime, and there has never been a better time to be an alumna! We look forward to continuing the journey in Alpha Delta Pi with you. Congratulations on Jewel Degree! Loyally, NAME PS: Our next event is (NAME/DATE/TIME/LOCATION). We hope to see you there! |

I'm very surprised by that. Our collegians are pretty much told they are to go to Founders Day. We also always have a speaker so they are getting a TME workshop out of it as well. Our FD are usually very successful. I would guess about 100-120 alums and collegians show up. Last year we had to do JD 3 times (I think it was last year). end mini-hijack |
peanutttu- Ive always been a big fan of the lyrics of Let Us Sing. I always thought that was a great way to sum up how seniors feel when they are graduating. Perhaps you can incorporate the lyrics in your note somehow. Also when I graduated my little diamond sister was really upset and when she dropped me off at the airport she was crying and I hugged her and told her "This is goodnight and not goodbye." To this day, every time either of us hear "Linger" we call the other. Thats another good phrase you could use.
I'm interested to see what our turn out will be. Every chapter, AA presence/support and city is obviously different. It always depends on when its held, if its a popular day (warm out, a game day, etc) attendance will be lower. We've had many instances where people RSVP and never show. A few years back we use to have A LOT of alumnae show up but lately there are a good number of active alumnae that are pregnant/starting families/getting married, etc that havent been showing up. |
Thanks adpicuf! You're awesome!
ASUADPi, last year i know there was a conflict w/Founders Day and Formal. This year we tried hard to avoid the conflict. I know at my chapter (EE) it was not a 'mandatory' event, but very encouraged! HBADPi, thanks! You all have great suggestions and have helped so much!!! You guys ROCK!:D |
For my girls, FD is a mandatory event, like Recruitment. However, we struggle to get alums there. The alum group nearest the chapter is quite unique in that they are really an alum group of that college and not the geography (de facto). 2 other alum groups will be participating, but due to the distance, this means only a handful of alum participants. We will have enuf to do Jewel (meaning we will have at least 3 alums) but not as many as would be ideal.
peanuttu - have you contacted your District Alum-Collegiate Relations Director or other District Alum Directors? They should have examples of such welcome letters. (I can look this weekend thru my manual from <> training) L&L |
