Basically, this guy is amazing!

Wow!

This is a man I admire for many reasons, and I know how it is to be a small group on campus, but to be the only one... my university shuts down groups for falling under 5! I can't imagine the pressure he's under, but he maintains his pride and confidence in his org. It makes me proud to be a Latino Greek - just to know there are members of LGLOs like him out there. GO LAU!

How do other minority organizations survive?... especially if there are competing organizations on your campus? having a line/class of 3 or 5 people must limit resources.

Been there, done it! Not Minority, but who in the hell cares? A 1 Member Fraternity will always have a tuff row to hoe.

And hopefully with the publicity he can start recruiting guys. If he loves his fraternity chapter he would recruit.

Oh my goodness. Now that's dedication! I hope he manages to keep the fraternity afloat. It was tough enough for me to have fewer than 20 girls in my chapter in college...I can't even imagine being the only one!

Low numbers are a constant problem for Black, Latino, and some Asian greeks at PWIs. It's an unfortunate reality. I have a friend who is an Alpha who was the only member of his chapter for two years, ran for Student Government President, had the highest GPA on campus, and brought in a line of two his senior spring. So, while this is commendable (this individual from LAU), it's definitely not uncommon. The majority just don't know about it.

My friends in Delta were tabling the other day, and one person came up (wearing letters) and asked them what DST was. They replied that it was a service oriented sorority, etc. She asked if they were new at GW, and they replied that the sorority had been on campus for 31 years. People never cease to amaze me. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Very cool.

You'd be surprised at what you can do with just a handful of members. I'm glad to see that the other LGLOs are supporting him, and not hoping that his organization will just die out.

I cant say i know how it feels to be the only one to carry on the legacy of what was built but i do know who it feels for only 5 brothers to continue to encourage other male and to recruit members for your fraternity. For awhile on my campus there was a drought and no one wanted to be apart of my fraternity because we did not have a house and haters of course put the venom out there, but like the bible says " Man may endurth for a night but joy cometh in the morning". and thats something that i continue to tell my self, and it will come to light, GOD will not have brought him that far to leave him astray, just watch we will hear from now that they have a group to 30+ members and thats something that i do believe for this man, and my fraternity and others out there.... Continue to encourage each other and stay greek...

im in the same situation on my campus. i tabled at my school's club fair, and this fraternity member (won't say the org, but pretty well known frat) comes to me like, "oh i havent seen you around before... are you a service org?"

so i proceeded to tell him, "Well, we have actually been around for 84 glorious years" etc, and he (very skeptically) says, "okay, well welcome to campus, maybe we could do a mixer... you know, where greeks come together and mingle and stuff?"

im like "fool i am not dumb!" :sigh:
