Questionable Morals

I have a question for the well-seasoned Sorors and other greeks out there. What do you do if a young lady with some very negative qualities tries to join our illustrious sisterhood? Now to be specific, there was a young lady that attempted to join the collegiate chapter at the university I attended. Apparently she has been seeking Delta Sigma Theta for a long time. She even has a collection of elephants and pyramids in her home. She was declined a few times by the collegiates mainly because, she's a habitual liar (this is know firsthand), will not hesitate to act a fool in public and doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut.

Now I've be told that she is seeking membership in an alumnae chapter in the new area where she has moved. This young woman does not possess the qualities of a Delta (or any other organization for that matter) and I really don't want her representing my organization. I don't want to over step my bondaries but what does one do in this situation. Just so you know I'm not hating on the young woman, but I've hung out with her a couple times and both times she managed to act-a-fool out in the street. Since then I quietly declined any other invitations to hang out.

Very honestly, at this point it would be up to the alumnae chapter and you should let it go.

I agree with LadyGreek there is really nothing you can do besides not vote her into your chapter, that way she cant rep your chapter when she goes out acting a fool......This situation happens all the time there have been so many people that were not voted into my undergraduate chapter and then later became members of graduate or city wide chapters.

I'm not a "season" member, but I'll tell you what I'd do. If it were someone that I reeaaaalllllyyyyy had a problem with (and according to your description of this person, I'd really have a problem with this chick) I would get on "the vine" and make some phone calls, especially if I knew anybody in the chapter. Heck, if I knew somebody, who knew somebody in the chapter. And if not that, the chapter would get a letter from me, for real. I don't know how much weight it would hold. But at least I'd know that I did what I could to keep someone of such character out of the fold.

I would not sweat it. You know people like that will always tell on themselves and your alumnae sorors will peep her steelo quick. It's cool how you still showed respect for the sistah. Mad props. Ow-Ow!!!!
