How many times
do you forgive a friend and give them back your trust before you say "that's it, done"?
|
I would say about 3.
The first time I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was an accident or they didn't know what they were doing would piss you off (I don't know the situation, obviously). The second time I would forgive, but be more reserved with that friend. The third time I would think that person values what they're doing wrong more then the friendship. My 3 1/2 cents. |
I'm not sure that there is a number. It depends if the person is doing the same thing over and over. It also depends on how big the problem is. I think that if you have told your friend that certain behavior is not acceptable to you or hurts you and that person continues to do it, that person is no longer a friend.
Sometimes it hurts more to be with toxic friends than to let them go. I also think that sometimes taking a break from a friend is a good thing. Trust, once broken, has to be earned which can take some time. |
I agree with PNC on this one. I don't have a magic number; a lot depends on what the situation is, and who the friend is. I, admittedly, cut my friends a whole lot of slack with things like this. It completely depends on the situation, though, and the person involved.

I take the approach of "would I like another chance if I messed up this many times?" It makes it a lot easier to forgive someone when you put yourself in their shoes. |
