When is your IRD?

Toronto is holding IRD on Saturday, April 8 at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club.

Georgia's is April 1st at Mercer University.:cool:

Michigan's is also April 8th. We invited the women from Bowling Green (Alpha Kappa) and the Toronto Alumnae Chapter this year too. We hope they come!

Toronto held IRD today at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club. The lunch consisted of salmon and a green salad or quiche and a green salad and then dessert (it was some sort of custard tart with fruit...yummy! :)) There were some 50+ collegians and alumnae there in total (28 collegians!!)! As usual, the speeches by the outgoing and incoming Tau presidents were highly emotional and we were introduced to 3 newly initiated AGDs! Tau is also growing! We were told today that 14 girls were initiated in total, which includes the 3 girls initiated yesterday.

Michigan's statewide IRD was also today, hosted by the Western Wayne County Alumnae Club at Fox Hills golf club. Lunch was salad, chicken divan, rice pilaf and fresh fruit with ice cream sundae's for dessert. Susan Eberts Prater was our speaker. This year, we also invited Alpha Kappa, Bowling Green (Ohio) and the Toledo Alumnae Chapter since they are so close geographically. There were 225 women in attendance. Foundation Jewels (chapters and individuals) were recognized, as were the wearers of Honors of Epsilon Pi, and the Foundation Scholarship Key award winners.

Chapters in attendance included: Zeta Alpha, Alpha Beta, Alpha Pi, Alpha Upsilon, Zeta Nu, Zeta Omicron, Alpha Kappa, and Zeta Sigma. Alumnae chapters included: Mid-Michigan Alumnae Chapter, Western Wayne County Alumnae Club, Detroit North Suburban Alumnae Chapter, East Metro Detroit Alumnae Chapter, Ypsilanti Junior Circle and the East Metro Detroit Junior Circle.

Yours truly did the last 1/3 of chapter roll this year. I only messed up once :) (sorry U of Texas, which I called University of Dallas, because I was reading ahead of myself).

Hawaii held ours today at the Officers' Club at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (Kaneohe, HI). Kaneohe is notorious for their rain, but it was a beautiful day out, and our room overlooked the ocean. Stay tuned for pictures because I know we had lots of photo ops. Lunch consisted of tossed greens, pasta salad, assorted jellos, roasted potatoes, steamed veggies, braised teriyaki chicken, and mahimahi with some kind of sauce I can't remember. The dessert table was literally attacked and nothing was left on the table after we were done. LOL.

I missed Chapter Roll because I got stuck at the visitors' gate to get on base :mad: , but in addition to Delta Sigma, we had sisters from Psi, Chi, Phi, Omicron, Alpha Epsilon, Delta Epsilon, Delta Beta, and even a Gamma Alpha (who flew in from the Big Island for the weekend!) represented.

Also in attendance was IVP-Finance Joyce Greene.

Usually the centerpieces are given out in a fun way, but this year, the red, buff, and green toparies are being given to residents of Pohai Nani, a retirement center, for Easter. The collegiate chapter's accomplishments were read and officers and advisors recognized. The Blooming Rose award was given to a member just initiated last Fall. In the short time she's been an Alpha Gam she's already done so much for the chapter and serves as support for existing officers. She's truly worthy of the honor.

As far as the alumnae chapter goes, wearers of the Honors of Epsilon Pi were introduced and sisters who are active with various organizations in the community were also recognized.

We just had our annual Grape Escape Fundraiser where thousands of dollars was raised to finally get a Delta Sigma Scholarship established with Foundation. We're definitely on our way there. This year's event was the biggest in history, and because it's always been a successful event (coupled with the Silent Auction baskets) it'll be featured at Convention during one of the fundraising workshops. We did a mini sample in Chicago where we raised over a hundred dollars just from a few items in 30 minutes alone.

The chapter is truly appreciative of Mackinley, a recent AI, who served as Grape Escape chair. She was almost moved to tears when she was recognized.

...and Hawaii is once again a FIVE STAR CHAPTER! :)

Sandy, Do you know the name of the Gamma Alpha? I'm always curious about my chapter sisters!

I should add that alumnae from Tau, Alpha Eta, Delta Nu, Zeta Phi and Zeta Chi were at IRD today.

Her name is Jennifer Fowler, and if I'm not mistaken she works for a family based out of Kona on the Big Island. :)
