V for Vendetta
"Remember, remember the 5th of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot. I see no reason Why gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot". This is the opening line of V for Vendetta starring Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving. The movie actually opens March 17, but I got free passes for a sneak preview tonight. It is a really good film. It's smart enough for people who like movies that make you think, but it's also full of action for those who simply like movies full of gratuitous violence. I equate this movie to Brave New World meets 1984 meets Farenheit 451. Anyway, I don't want to give away too much before it opens but I recommend to you that you go and see it. |
I can't wait.

Wasn't this a book?
I also, can't wait. |
I'm seeing it tomorrow....going to see the IMAX version with Mr. Tau (he has never seen a "real" movie on IMAX....only documentaries)

I'm looking forward to this movie. I think it looks interesting. I love Hugo Weaving too! Huge Matrix and LOTR fan.

I still don't understand why they didn't release it closer to Guy Fawkes day though. |
They were originally going to release it last fifth of november, but there was a terrorist attack in London the previous July. As this movie is about a terrorist in London, they felt it better to push it back, though I suspect they didn't want to wait a full year.
I saw it last night and am still in awe of it. Perhaps a Spoiler but i tried to be vague: One major complain critics had about this movie is that the romance is iffy and that V is absent from parts of it. There isn't really much of a romance here, Evey is not falling in love with him, but converting to his cause. V is absent from a portion of the movie, but as you will come to understand, the movie isn't really about him. Now if you read this and haven't seen the movie you're throughly confused, but it will make sense later. The ONLY negative I had about the movie was that it can be hard to keep up with Hugo Weaving's verbose V, subtitles will be on when I buy this DVD End Space |
Watching it tommorow (Monday is half price off).
On a related note, can we call this movie a Wachovsky (sp?) brothers flix since one of them is not a brother anymore. It should be called sibling. |
!! oh do tell, i hadn't heard anything about this!

No. Even if I knew what you were talking about there, the answer is no. Its a [insert name of director] flick because the director directed it. |
My only criticism of this movie is actually Natalie Portman. I thoguth her English accent was bad. She kept coming out of it too much. It's a personal opinion of mine, but if you are going to have a non-English man/woman do an English accent, they have to be good. I didn't like her accent at all. However, there was nothing wrong with her acting and I though she played the character quite well.

I really enjoyed this movie. My boyfriend did too.
I would have to agree though that at times it was hard to understand what was being said. I will definatly rewatch the movie for that reason. |
I thought the movie was horrible....saw it earlier today. Bad plot, bad character development, pretty much bad everything.

Watched it thursday night. Awesome movie.
