Famous Theta Women??

Famous Thetas?? Anyone have any? I just think it's fun to see who out there in the spotlight is one of us. Any stories?

Naturally I have one. One of my sisters here at OSU went to a Sheryl Crow concert... knowing she was a Theta and having backstage passes, ;) Her and Sheryl sat down and I guess talked for hours about their Theta experience.

that's pretty cool!

Laura Bush is a famous theta! :)

ThetaPrincess24 03-30-2006 08:38 PM

Laura is!

I think the poster though was talking more if any famous ones were among us here or had met one.

There is a locally famous theta from my chapter that lives in my neighborhood actually. She is a TV news anchor at one of the TV stations here.

We have a famous alumna from my chapter - Zeta Upsilon at UT-Dallas.

Shannon Hughes, who graduated in Dec. 2003, was the runner-up on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Search, which aired on NBC in January 2005. She was also my hostess at Day 1 and Preference parties, my class' VPE, and the woman who turned me on to Theta in the first place!

Now she's working around the globe as a model. Last I heard, she had a spread in an Australian fashion magazine.

The First Daughter is also a Theta...I can't ever remember which chapter she's from though. I think it's UT-Dallas. I could be seriously wrong though, but I also think The First Lady was a Theta from SMU? Or was SHE from UT-Dallas? Haha. I get so confused.

ThetaPrincess24 05-31-2006 03:37 PM

I believe they are both Thetas now. Barbara i think joined at Yale and Jenna joined at UT- Dallas i think. Yes Laura is from SMU in Texas.

Lynne Cheney and John McCain's Wife are also Thetas.

I think Jenna joined at UT-Austin, and Barbara joined at Yale her sophomore year. I never knew John McCain's wife was a Theta!

I never knew Cindy McCain was a Theta either! You are right though.... she is from the USC chapter. Thanks for the info!

Ahhh...just too cool...it's so much fun getting to see people on tv and "knowing" that you share something so special :) *sigh*

Sorry to crash :D

Being an Arizonian (he he), I had no idea that Cindy is a Theta. How cool is that!

I love when I find out people, who I actually recognize their name, are Greek. Too cool!

any truth to the facts that Walt Disney's daughter was a Theta or the Anheiser Busch daughers were Theta's??? I've heard stories about Disney's "Let's Go Fly A Kite" and something about a Pansy on Budweiser bottles.

I think the Disney's daughters thing may be true; I've seen that tidbit posted on several chapter websites. I havent heard but one time about the Anheiser Busch daughters thing and the pansies on the labels......I dont drink Budweiser or beer either for that matter so I havent checked the pansy on the label thing out for myself :) I've only heard the latter by word of mouth, I dont think I've ever seen it on a Theta website.

Yep- Walt's daughter's are Thetas, but not sure which chapter(s) they were at. Interesting fact (found on wikipedia.org). Diane was the only child born to Walt and Lillian. Her sister, Sharon, was adopted! *I always find these kinds of things related to Disney fun. I am a big Disney fan. I did work at Walt Disney World in FL for 4 months, afterall!*
Also, the song "Let's Go Fly A Kite" might connect slightly to Theta, but the song idea overall is not at all related! I have the soundtrack which includes a thing with the Sherman bros. talking about the songs . . . more on that later if I can remember to check out my cd! (Make sure I'm not relaying wrong info here!)

Other than that . . . I have never met a "famous" Theta, nor can I think of any local famous Thetas...I'll have to see what I can find!

Bump. After last night's win by John McCain, maybe we'll have a repeat for Theta in the first lady position! Good luck!!
