I looove to read too. And I agree, SOME of what is coming out (in terms of African-American novels is junk. But I guess you could say that about literature in general. But there are some notable exceptions-J. California Cooper (have been a fan since I was a pre-teen), E. Lynn Harris, Tina McElroy Ansa..etc.
As for other hobbies, I love to dance. I take a West African dance class once a week (when I can) and it is a work-out! I also like salsa and merengue. When I can get to the club, that's a great workout too!

That's a good question. I enjoy just about everything I do so the hobby and life activities kind of run together. This is what I do...

• Surf the Internet (Like it is hard to tell...)
• Listen to music (Gospel)
• Read Magazines like Heart & Soul, Ebony, Family Circle, and Woman's World
• Spend time with my boyfriend
• Watch TV

I'm curious to know what my sorors and sisterfriends are doing for a hobby, entertainment.

I enjoy reading. At one point I was reading almost 2 books a week, but that was a few years ago, I slowed down alot, mostly because I feel with this surge of new African American writers, that alot of what is coming out is junk. I have about 100 books, that either I couldn't finish because they were so bad, or I could barely finish for the same reason. My favorite Auther is JCalifornia Cooper.
I also enjoy bingo, but you can barely find good games any more due to the river boats taking over.
Will try to join a bowling league this summer.
