LXA on Book Cover

I think I showed everyone this photo before in a thread dealing with historic LXA photos in the Umass archives, but I don't think I ever showed you how it was used.

This is a picture of two brothers in the Gamma Zeta house in 1926. If you look at the pillow in the corner, you will see our letters.

Just thought it was interesting that for the history book of Umass-Amherst, they used a picture of LXA.

WOW!

What A Neat Picture!

I guess it just shows How Important LXA was even then Back In 1926!

There is Another Post Somewhere!

Hi,

This topic was brought up once before. I don't "remember where or when." That is a song title, but is relevant....

Yours in ZAX,

Mike R.,

Zeta-Upsilon Zeta,
Sixty-Six Years and Growing Younger!
That's Z-UZ; Not me....

Yeah, I showed the picture before from the Umass archives, I just thought I wanted to update everyone that it actually made the cover of the Umass history book.

Tom Earp 03-10-2006 05:28 PM

Still like it as I dont remember it, but still impressive!

Now hoping for the day that Gamma Zeta ReChatered!

They are James Burnham and Ray (or Roy?) Norcross, both class of 1926.

On the pillow, above the letters, is a coat of arms. The bottom banner is visible and the central portion is strangely disproportionate - way too big for just two letters "Xi". In fact, way too big even if it had had "Quisque". But then I notice odd things like that. The author sent me a very nice high-res jpeg several years ago.

Great picture!

ZAX,
Jono

WOW JONO! THAT IS SOME GREAT RESEARCH!

I would have thought the identities of those brothers were long gone!

Anyone have any information on their current status?

JonoBN41 03-10-2006 11:01 PM

The 2003 LCA directory does not list James Burnham as deceased, although if he's still alive, he'd have to be around 100!

ZAX,
Jono

James Burnham, for some reason that name sounds familiar outside of fraternal context. Which state did it list that he last resides in?
