Wow. Just wow. Once again I'm typing and erasing because I can't get my thoughts together on this one.

Yeah, I really didn't know what to think either.

Homecoming is new to Hood, it seems, only in its second year I think.

Only 160-some people voted, so it's not like the entire college really voted on it.

One part of me agrees with the guy who said it was a gender issue...but a bigger part of me says that it's their school, and if that's what the students want, then more power to them.

A girl from my high school went to Hood. She also married the teacher she was fooling around with her senior year of HS (after breaking up his 3 kid marriage) and they are still married to this day. And that's what I think of when I think of Hood College. The End.

Yay. Story time. Tell us another!

I certainly agree with the guy that says its a gender thing. If she wanted to run, there was an option there.

But its their campus....

A tiny liberal arts school did this? Who knew tiny liberal arts schools were this retarded?

Santo Provenzano, 21, who competed for king, said Jones' selection made the event seem like a joke. "It discourages guys from wanting to take part in the future," he said.

Hey dude, if you think wussy boys are too skeered to run against a woman, or that homecoming king is really serious business, you have bigger problems than this. I say good for her and the school.

NinjaPoodle 03-07-2006 12:57 PM

I say good for her. Why do people get so bent out of shape over a stupid thing like this? Just deal with it.

OhioCentaur 03-07-2006 01:06 PM

I do kind of agree with the guy who said it will discourage guys from participating... i dont think its fear of losing to a woman but the fun of competing with other guys for the bragging rights wont be there if you allow things like that to happen. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with a female king other than the fact that KINGS ARE MALE... why not have just two queens if the majority of the votes went to her??

its not a super big deal but with anything competitive you want it to be taken seriously... thats like having a female team in the male brackets of march madness... if they win great but then the hunger to get back to the tournament for the males will be gone because now its just a big joke...

Coramoor 03-07-2006 01:39 PM

It's making a joke out of the entire process.

That just might have been the point.

Well the lesbian can run for Lesbian Stud or Queer Queen or whatever it is. Sometimes the administration needs to just tell students to shutup. It's just like the freaks who want non-gender bathrooms because they can't identify with one gender. If you have a penis or a vagina, you damn well know how the dice were rolled in your game.

I think i'd maybe be more supportive of the idea if she was a pre op transexual or something, like if she really, truly identified herself as a male. But being a lesbian doesn't automatically do that.
