Diappearing Act

For those of you who watched, what did you think about the movie?

I did not read the book, but right now I am looking forward to buying it. I think the movie was good. I would give it three stars. I personally think there could have been better direction.

Sorors and sisterfriends let me know what you think.

I just watched the movie. I thought it was great. I'm looking forward to reading the book also. I was a little disappointed with the ending.

Hello Ladies,

Just to add my 2cents, I have read the book, and in my opinion this is Terri McMillan's best book. Then comes Mama, but I thought the movie was ok for a TV movie. I wasn't feelin' Wesley in the role of Franklin, but hey I'm not feelin' him at all. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif But what do you all think of the refrigerator scene...dayum!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

The soundtrack to the movie was pretty tight, but honestly I didn't like the movie. Wesley Snipes as Franklin? I didn't feel that at all. I liked Sanaa Lathan as Zora, but I thought the movie as a whole didn't accurately project the emotion and struggles of the book. I guess I shouldn't expect too much from a 2 hour tv movie, but I honestly I expect more from HBO. They have some great shows (The Corner, Sex and the City, Oz, Sopranos) and I had high hopes for it. I generally don't like books that are made from movies anyway.

I certainly hope they don't make Mama in to a movie. That was my favorite Terry McMillan book.

I haven't seen it, but thought it was the best Terry McMillan novel. I will be viewing it on tape this week. I will tell you, I have reservations about Wesley, who like others mentioned, I am not feeling AT ALL! There are other actors who could have played him...Bro. Blair Underwood, (y'all don't remember him back in the day before he got all debonair, huh?) for one. Who are the men you think would have been better in that role, as you envisioned?
