Ariesrising's Greek Pages

I'm Miss Insomniac tonight and so here I am posting on GreekChat at 3:24 am. That's the bad news. The good news is that I finally sat down and read
Ariesrising's Greek Information Pages in their entirety and I have to tell you all that it's definitely a good read. Hopefully, though, you'll read it at a more civilized hour.

Fantastic job, Jen! :)

Quick question for our NIC men...was there any particular (public/nonsecret) reason for DKE, Phi Delta Theta and Kappa Sigma withdrawing from the NIC in 2002? I just noticed that they were under "other" organizations? What happens on campuses where they exist beside NIC fraternities? Do they sit on the same council or would they be put with say, Local organizations?

The site is awesome, and I didn't realize we had so many chapters.

I wondered this myself. We have Kappa Sigma here, and it's the largest fraternity on campus. I had no idea they withdrew from NIC...was there a (again, nonsecret/public) reason?

As far as I know, Kappa Sigma is still on the same council as TKE and ZBT here.

I believe there is a thread on here about it...

I think it has something to do with the fact that just don't want to be a part of the NIC anymore...some type of politics involved and they and a few other national fraternities are forming another umbrella organization.

Even though fraternities like Deke and KS are not a part of the NIC, I believe they are still required to be a part of the campus IFC

This is by no means gospel, but I once heard that all Phi Delta Theta (the first to leave the NIC) houses were going "dry". To do so, they somehow needed to leave the NIC.

I have the feeling that there's a nugget of truth there, but by far, not the whole story.

ariesrising,

That is quite an undertaking.

A couple of updates for info you didn't have about Delta Tau Delta. The name of the magazine is The Rainbow, and we do have alumni initiations.

The "active" badge you show is actually a specialty badge -- a sweetheart badge, I think.

The standard active badge is just like it, except there are no jewels around the outside.

Despite those little things, great job!

Ariesrising, I sent you a pm about the info you have for Sigma Gamma Rho. Overall I think your site is very well done.

Ariesrising - try these sites - I think these are what you are looking for

The Legacy division of Herff Jones is the old Masters of design site, and is part of Burr Patterson and Auld, so i put links to both here.
