60 largest american donations
 

Hey All:

I can across this and thought it was interesting. It is the largest American charitable contributions of last year and where the money went. It's interesting to see who is donating their money. It is also interesting to see who isn't as well. Where is Hollywood, the Hiltons, and the Trumps?????

I understand where you are coming from but also (playing devil's advocate)....

Not a whole lot of people in Hollywood make a lot of money, the "A" List people (or whatever), may have donated but this is the Top 57, with the minimum on the list being 20 million dollars....the very top of the A List...that is 1 pay check and we all know that they rarely come back with all of that. I am not saying that they didn't donate, but the range for this list is 20 - 400 million (the largest being a bequest).

Some of the recognizable "entertaintment" names have donated funds to charities named after themselves (I'm just saying)....

The majority of this donations are to Universities, which no doubt fund/endow some type of school.

My alma mater is on there. Very frat.

I don't know about the Hiltons, but Trump is reportedly very stingy when it comes to philanthropy.

I love the Gates foundation.

The research they fund is awesome- they put money on projects that matter to world public health and medicine. I'm so happy they exist.

Agreed - it makes me like the Mr. & Mrs. Gateses.

Was surprised to see Ted Turner on there... and interested to see Oprah just gave to her own charities!

I'm still interested in finding out exactly how much kanye west gave to the katrina fund.
