@Damianslady

Please don't take this the wrong way but I was on your MySpace page and noticed you say you're a college graduate that graduated from Cosmetology school, listed your profession as "hairstylist/fragrance specialist" and your income as $60,000-$75,000. My question to you is what exactly do you do that yields that great of an income because depending on your answer I may need to change professions!

Soror, hairstylists can make big bucks. Especially in the pricier salons with clients that leave big tips. :D

I think she is in LA. So, that amount sounds about right. While that may seem like a lot to you, also remember that LA is a helluva lot more expensive than most cities.

You are so right about LA and the cost of living being ridiculous. I was born and raised in NY and I know how fast a buck can leave your pocket shortly after arriving :D . Even so, for her to be only 23 that's still a good look. I need to learn how to bump and curl...

Damanislady 02-21-2006 09:15 PM

lol that's just about what i gross...TAXES are kickin ma azz...the cost of livin in kali is ridiculous.

If you are a GREAT stylist with a large (consistent) client roster, it doesn't matter where you live. You can bring in the above amount or more. While I'm getting my hair done, I can count how much my stylist has earned while I'm there alone, excluding tips. :eek: That's 2-3 hours maximum, where a wash is $30 or $35 and a relaxer $45. :eek:

My sister is a stylist but oddly enough, has a minority AfAm clientele. She mainly makes money through colors -- she charges around $100 for a highlight.
