New PR Campaign

So I am DYING to tell somebody about our FABULOUS idea for a PR campaign that we're going to implement here in the next couple of weeks, but I dont want word to leak out to the wrong people (well, I dont want other chapters on my campus finding out and stealing the idea from us) However, its such an AWESOME idea that I'm dying to tell someone, because other Alpha XI chapters might benefit from it as well. So - if your chapter is looking for some PR ideas, PM me and I'll give you the scoop on what we're going to try on my campus. Maybe you can mold it to be good for your campus.

I dont even know if my advisor has heard about it yet - we had a pr brainstorming sisterhood event friday night and thats when we thought of it. We're going to discuss it in the meeting tonight and get the ball rolling.:D :D :D

PR Campaign - an update

So our campus wide Easter Egg hunt was definitely a success. More people turned out than we expected, and it was FABULOUS. Never have we had 40 people show up to a campus wide event that we've sponsored. I dont think any campus organization other than Campus Activities Board (CAB) has had that kind of success with any event.

40 people, okay, maybe not much on your campus, but for SPSU - that's HUGE!!!

For those of you who dont know, this is how the event went: Last week, we posted fliers around campus that said "Get Ready, it's coming, the Easter Bunny is on his way!" Then this week, we had new fliers with pictures of plastic easter eggs that said "Have you seen me? if so, pick me up and take me home!"

We stuffed about 800 easter eggs with raffle tickets, instructions and 2 or 3 pieces of candy. Each night (sunday through wednesday) we hid approximately 200 around the campus (didnt want to hide them all on one night and not have any left by Thursday).

The instructions in the eggs told people to bring their reaffle tickets to the Student Center on Thursday the 13th at noon. Free Pizza and raffle prizes were available. We had $100 worth of gift cards, 2 bath and bosy gift baskets, a basket with auto care supplies, 2 Atlanta Thrashers (Hockey) tickets, and a set of 4 Braves tickets with a parking pass to give away.

The pizza arrived on time (thank god!) and everybody got food and sat down. Our president introduced us, thanked everyone for coming and all that jazz and then we started drawing tickets. One thing that we did, that we will have to be more specific on next year, is to let people know that you are only allowed for ONE raffle ticket. Some people came in with like, 20....it wouldnt have been fair for them to get more than one prize, ya know?

For the most part, people were pretty positive about the experience. After all, it was free food, and free gifts. It didnt cost anybody anything to be there - you just had to pick up an egg and show up if you wanted to.

Of course, there were several sour pusses - individuals who complained that a $3 gift card to brusters ice cream wasn't worth anything. Fine, give it back, I'm sure there's someone else who will enjoy it. For the record we had 5 $3 cards to Bruster Ice Cream, 4 $5 cards to Blockbuster, 2 $10 cards to Best Buy, 1 $10 card to AMC Theatres, 1 $15 card to Barnes and Noble, and 1 $20 card to Walmart. That $100 was alumni donations, which we were forever grateful for. Sure, we could have gotten like, 5 $20 cards somewhere, but our line of thinking was "cheaper cards, more people get a prize." There are always going to be individuals who complain - but I guess thats just stingy college folks for ya.

Our Student Government Association did provide us with enough money to pay for the pizza and fliers and candy. Perhaps next year we can get enough money to have bigger better prizes. But for a first year attempt, with a crowd of 40 people, and only less than 10 of them were our fraternity buddies, I would say that it was a success. We were excited about it. it DEFINTELY got our name out there - and that was the whole purpose of it :D

Pictures to come soon.
