Carls Jr. Hazing Commercial

Has anyone heard the commercial from Carls Jr.? I heard it on the radio this morning...

Started out with a guy asking his friend about which fraternies haze. The friend names one fraternity (with made up greek letters, I believe), and talks about how badly they haze.

Then he follows, saying but wait till you hear about XYZ fraternity. They make you eat two jalopeno burgers from Carls Jr. without any water.

Etc. etc.

Anyways, what are your thoughts? Do commercials like this perpetrate negative images of fraternities? Or is it just an amusing commercial?

Maybe I should be upset by the commercial but I'm really not.

It doesn't make me laugh like Jim Belushi in "Animal House" but it does slightly amuse me.

OMG!!! They need to wash those burgers down with a Snapple!!!

Seriously, it's like the movies that say all cheerleaders are sluts. People keep wanting to be cheerleaders and I haven't seen any squads arrested for prostitution. Taking humor in a commercial so seriously is ridiculous.

Somehow I think advertising eating burgers from your restaurant as hazing isn't exactly the image you might want to promote to get people to eat those burgers...but I guess we'll have to ask saetex and DZTurtle06 about that. They'll probably love those burgers.

I hate Carl's Junior. I could care less about how they use women as sex objects, etc., but the way the models eat their burgers-- no one should enjoy their food that much!!!! It has made me boycott the restaurant.

I hate Carl's Jr. because its disgusting food. No amount of advertising will change that

Hehe....that's what I thought too! I used to like Carls Jr. actually...but it feels like they're just getting to gimicky for over-priced fast food.

Don't really have much of a problem with that.

Was more "disturbed" by the old snapple ad where the fraternity member snapple bottle was paddling the pledge snapple bottle.

It was funny though, but not something I really needed in order to buy a snapple.

Is this the same chain as Hardee's on the East Coast?

My roomate is from California and just informed me, the native East Coaster that Hardees and Carl's Jr. are the same thing, right down to the menu items most times.

I thought so...I remember when the Paris Hilton commercial came out and I was like, "What in the Hell is Carls Jr.?" Imagine my disappointment when I found out it was only Hardees. ;)

OK, The company that owns Carl's Jr bought out Hardee's in the 1990's.
