Older head...

If Spring 93 is a oldhead, what's Fall '86 (James W. Dean pledge Class). :)

Hi Roadkill! I'm not far behind you, Fall 93. :)

roadkill 02-12-2006 12:09 AM

First I must apologize for my typing skills. Sista H your web page is on point and my email address is cedd251us@yahoo.com find my line......Mr. 1986 where did you pledge and how did you pledge

naraht 02-12-2006 07:03 PM

Mr. 1986

Haven't been referred to as that before...

To answer your questions...
I pledged at Kappa Chapter @ Carnegie-Mellon University (It was Carnegie Inst. of Technology when we got our charter in 1929, changed to Carnegie-Mellon in the 1970s.)

As for how I pledged, lets just say that Kappa in many ways including pledging is most similar to the chapters at other "Historically white geeky schools"(My wife's terminology). :)

I'm #8 in my pledge class because that's where I am alphabetically (not because of my height). I first learned about "stepping" when I was sectional staff representative to Zeta Phi chapter at Howard. (I was on section staff from 1990-> 2003)

I remember when PVAMU (& Texas Southern, I think) presented stepping at the 1994 convention in Dallas. (About twice as many people showed up to that seminar than the convention schedulers expected)

Hope Sigma Pi and Tau Zeta grow, from what I can see, each have less than half a dozen brothers on campus.

Hey didnt intened to offend if I did I apologize but back then alot of the brothers had pledged greek on campus after pledging us and my line was the last to go through "The old school way" and it was a lil might I say interesting but looking back on it, It was fun
Anyway I know things have fell off since then We lost my line leader and president in a car fire a while back and things up there havent been the same since.

naraht 02-13-2006 03:07 PM

No Prob...

Sorry to react like that, but "how did you pledge" can be viewed in a number of ways. Carnegie-Mellon is so geeky, the Social Fraternities have their Fraternity Houses WiFi'ed. :) (NIC, I *think* the NPHC chapters at U of Pittsburgh let in Carnegie-Mellon students but I don't know)

I'm sure with the numbers the way they are that the Section 43 chair is looking for suggestions. I *know* that the chapters at HBCUs tend to be smaller than those elsewhere, so no pledge classes of 100, but gotta get more brothers there.

Alpha Phi Omega as stepping stone to NPHC brotherhood rubs me the wrong way. Join both if you want, but having us as a checkbox in their application form, ick.

Feel for you on the loss of your linemate. :(

Randy

Welcome, roadkill!

I know it must be tough losing one of your line Brothers. One of my Pledge Brothers is currently battling brain cancer, and I dread the day when I'll hear of his passing.

It got kind of lost in some of the explanations..

Welcome Roadkill! May your stay here be long and useful!

Greetings brothers, a fellow "old head" here. I am trying to locate any of my fellow LB's from zeta nu chapter at southern IL university at carbondale. As someone else mentioned earlier in the post, we too "Pledged the old school way" and lost our charter for five years during the pledge class following mine (fall'94). I was already gone by then so I do not really know the specifics or what happened to my fellow neo's thereafter. Any info would help.
