Help ?!?!?!

Question, on a campus that has two NPC sororities do you have to be voted onto their council in order to be a sorority on the campus, or can you just form your own sorortiy and not be ssociated with them at all?

That sounds like a campus question. If you have a Greek Advisor (which there most likely is one) he/she should be able to tell you.

Definitely check with the Greek advisor at the university or college on recognition requirements. Some general info:

If you are at a public university, then you should be able to be recognized by the university without being part of Panhel (this is due to freedom of association). However, some public universities have recently been requiring that you must also be recognized by Panhel or other Greek council to maintain a sorority status (i.e., female only), then the Panhel/Greek council must have allowances for recognizing local and national sororities that are not part of the NPC.

Unlike public universities, private universities can basically do what they want for recognition of groups. Many private universities do require that you be a part of Panhel/Greek council, because the private university likes to have all the local and national social sororities under one umbrella group.
