2008 Nominations
Who would you like to see run for president in 2008?
I nominate Barrack Obama! I'm not sure how I feel about Hillary yet. |

I'm not asking this to be hostile. I just want to know if you've seen something in him that disqualifies him from being nominated (or worthy of the presidency). |
Senator Obama
Well as far as "grass roots" issues, I like the fact that he is a member of the Senate Veteran Affairs Committee which battles to help vets get fair benefits
He worked with both Dems and Reps to create the Earned Income Tax Credit program for working families which provided $100 million in tax cuts for working families in his state alone He proposed Medicare pare D trying to make a better medicare better for the elderly Helped pass the Wired for Health Act which passed the Senate unanimously. This act will save $140 billion per year and lower healthcare costs for the average family by about $700 a year. Foreign Relations I agree with his view on the Iraq war as far as what needs to be done. We should pull out, but not so fast that the country gets worse and we end up having to go right back. Our focus should be to train Iraqi troops and police officers so that they can fight the terrorists and we can go home My Experience When I have to send my Soldiers out the wire to get information from Iraqis or go to one of the academies to teach them tactics, they come back saying that half of them really want to help their country but the other half just want a paycheck (which can be understandable) and are not worried with learning as fast as they can because they know we (US troops) will do the fighting for them. This type of thinking pisses the US troops off, not the fact that everyone in the US is not going along with the war as some politicians have suggested. |
Oh yes, I love Barack and all that he stands for. I also like Hillary too.
Either or for me. Just PLEASE no more republicans! |

You know that kid that would always ask her mother "why...why...why?" That's me. :) My question was simply "why?" Plus I didn't ask about Hilary because I think she can go jump in the lake. :p :D ;) |

I'd consider voting for McCain, if he ran. |
Ladylike: What is it about Hillary that you don't like?
I could see myself voting for a Republican but I don't have any favorites right now. I am neither a Republican or Democrat. |
My .02
Obama is good but this is his freshman year in the Senate. I would like to see him in the Senate a little longer and then try for a run later (2012?). He's needed in the Senate. So's Hillary.
I like John Edwards. (I like his wife Elizabeth even more!) Wes Clark is ok...would rather see him as Sec'y. of State. The verdict is out for me re: Warner, Bayh and Feingold. |
I'm another independent who has reservations on the major parties. Sen. Clinton, IMO, is unelectable because she will be a lightning rod for the hard right and those folks will come out in droves to get back at her husband.
If the Dems have even a shot for 2008, the candidate has to be a DLC type Democrat -- people just aren't down for taxation and spending if they're feeling even a bit squeezed. |
