QueenCece...I need to make on thing perfectly clear. Pledging is ILLEGAL and has not existed since 1990. Having said that..you might have to turn to members of your community that might be Zetas and you just didn't know that they were members. You can also find out if any of your instructors are Zetas and she might be willing to speak for you. You also need to be clear on if your prospective chapter is actually looking for Zeta Alumnae or Zeta members in general. I hope that I answered your questions. Best of Luck to you and Thank you for your interest in my Sisterhood..... Hi Sapphire:
You said that pledging is Illegal since 1990. I am confused (I am indepenent still). I still see that word used on these boards freely. Is it all technically called Rushing now? Is pledging considered hazing now? Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me. Asia |
Asia2000- It's called 'Intake' (as in Membership Intake Process) now. People use the words pledging and intake interchangeably, but they aren't the same thing.

Hi Queencece. I'm glad that you are interested in the illustrious Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. As food for thought, since you have done research that is a good start. Please consider that Zeta is an organization that expects a lifetime committment from each precious member - not one or two college years (or Graduate years for that matter).
Zetas are dedicated women of all ages from "19 to 99" who have elected to give of their time through good and bad times. If you are sure that you are up to the challenge, then by all means go for it. Continue to get to know Zetas and prepare yourself for your desired destination. Should you need more assistance, you know what to do. ------------------ Sweet Deliverance's PHI-losophy: "What you do or do not do today determines what you can or cannot do tomorrow." |

Asia2000, pledging and hazing ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE!!! Yes, people often use the same terminology but, they are indeed different. And hazing has not replaced pledging. In all honesty, the posters of messages on these boards need to exercise more discretion. And I say that with the utmost of respect for my fellow BGLO greeks. Traditionally, BGLO Sororities only used the term Rush as a noun, not as a gerund or adjective...follow me? We would attend a rush but not go rushing. _-------------------------------------------- SapphireSensation RoyalBlueDivaDivine The Epitome of Finerwomanhood [This message has been edited by SapphireSensation (edited July 26, 2000).] |
Thanks for clearing that up for me (more or less) -- I think it's just that everyone using the different terms interchangable confused me. Thanks again.
