Kappa Sigma at Georgia Southern

Hey how is Kappa Sig at GA Southern? I heard they weren't that great. Any one have any imput? I'm looking to rush when I get there next year.

If you aren't greek, how in the heck are you fratty?

Explain.

shinerbock 02-07-2006 02:05 AM

Its true, you can be fratty without being greek.
Por ejemplo, Doc Holliday, perhaps the frattiest man of all time=not in a fraternity.

Well my little brother was posting that one. Any input?

You suck. --- Oh, wait that was my little sister typing that.

You've got to be kidding...

So I have a little brother who wanted to post on here. Is that such a problem?
Am I going to get an answer?

NO.

Let your little brother create a NEW user name and post himself.

I don't think you will get an answer anyway, people on here don't like to answer "what is so and so group like at so and so school" questions.

Hi FrattyChi:

The best advice I can give is that he should wait til he gets there. Then he can really meet the guys and form his own opinion. It's best to form one's own opinion of a chapter, instead of asking a message board full of people who don't go to GA Southern and wouldn't be much help.
:)

You should rush KA or SAE.

I'm with JocelynC on this one. Besides, what if we all told you how great they were and then you got there and hated them? Go through recruitment and find out for yourself if they're good (for you) or if you fit in better with another org.

Besides, being a "good" org doesn't mean it's filled up with quality people. I've seen really strong chapters full of real a$$holes.

I partied with a bunch of Sigma Nus from GA. Southern a few years ago at our Toronto convention. They were cool as hell.

"Frattychi" -- unless things have changed significantly, you'll get your ass kicked if you use the word "fratty" or at least I hope you would.

But please, don't expect to be taken seriously with a name like that. Don't know a damned thing about you. Can't really judge a person too much on a couple of bad posts and a stupid internet name. Good luck during Rush. My advice would be to keep an open mind. It's a little too early to be worried about which house you'll pledge before have a bid from a single one.

Exactly; for what it's worth, I met a few of their guys a couple of years back, and they seemed cool.

Honestly though, the best way to find out is to meet the guys himself.

Excellent point, ktsnake. DO NOT use the word frat, fratty, frat guy, frat party, etc. All of the greek men I have know hate that word because of the negative connotations associated with it - in other words, all the bad greek stereotypes. Say fraternity. Or, as it was put to me in my freshman year of college by one of my fraternity friends, "Don't call my fraternity a frat. Do I call this country a ..." Well, you get it.

valkyrie 02-08-2006 03:10 PM

I've heard that they wear trucker hats. But still, of course you should judge for yourself. I mean, it would be unfraternallenic of you to make any judgments whatsoever, either now or after you're on campus. Every guy on the Georgia Southern campus is peachy, and you should love all fraternities equally. Expressing a preference of one fraternity over another smacks of elitism and is inappropriate in all instances. To be a well-rounded young fellow who exemplifies all that is good in life, you must be friends with every person on campus because singling out certain people upon whom you bestow your friendship is just not what Greek life is all about, you know. Take it upon yourself to learn of the struggles of those who have gone before you and, tragically, used the word "fratty" to refer to anything. This is never okay, and you must refrain from using words such as this that might offend the delicate sensibilities of those who wish to uphold the high ideals of our founders in daily life.
