WASHINGTON (Feb. 4) - Betty Friedan, whose manifesto "The Feminine Mystique" became a best seller in the 1960s and laid the groundwork for the modern feminist movement, died Saturday, her birthday. She was 85.

First Coretta Scott King, and today Betty Friedan and "Grampa" from "The Munsters". That completes the trifecta of death. :(

Actually I was thinking Wendy Wasserstein, Betty F, and who's next (in terms of the triumverate)?

ACK!!!!
First, I am not one to dance on another's grave, but please don't expect any tears from me! Yes, Betty Freidan was a leader in the Women's Movement, but not all of us find that so freaking wonderful!! The fastest growing sector of the population that is becoming impoverished is the divorced woman. Even though women STILL do not make the same amount as men, they are expected to suck it up. I paid my loser of an ex-husband support for five years because of a law "equalizing" divorces! I figure she & her cronies owe me well over $100,000! |
