Delta Sigma Theta on Good Morning America...

Did anyone see it? It was about the "Girls Going Out" cruise they have been offering. I didn't see all of it, but it was a beautiful representation of sisterhood, and the special bonds of sisterhood. One quote really stood out to me, (not exact I'm sure) "They give me peace when the rest of the world is screaming at me."

:D

I found the article on GMA's site

Shequitta Kelly, center, who became a mother at 16, made it through college and law school with the help of her sorority sisters. (ABC NEWS)

While her fellow high school sophomores were planning for homecoming, Shequitta Kelly was looking for day care and medical insurance for her newborn daughter.

Despite becoming a mother at 16, Kelly finished high school and went on to college.

"When I arrived on campus, I was lost and afraid," Kelly wrote. "There were countless sleepless nights. I deeply feared failing."

One group of women would not let Kelly fail — her sorority sisters. The women became her support system, her after-hours day care, and her reality check.

With the support of her friends, Kelly graduated from college and went to law school. Today, Kelly is a lawyer and hopes her daughter, Janay, 11, will be equally blessed with invaluable dreams.

"They instill confidence in me when I am ready to throw in the towel," Kelly said of her sorority sisters. "They bring peace when the rest of the world is screaming at me."

Thanks for the story! I forgot to look it up. What an inspriation and she had the support of the sorors---one of the reasons I'm proud to be a Delta!:D

I saw our soror on GMA today. It was really wonderful to see the love and support that her chapter sorors provided. I had to give our soror the loudest OOOO-OOOOOOOOOOP I could make because she persevered and obtained her undergraduate and law degree despite being a single mother at a young age. God is good.
