Politics: Minority Lawmakers Unite

The Tri-Caucus, per this article has emerged to assist in legislation for hurrican ravaged areas.

Tri Caucus Established

Questions: Should this Tri-Caucus maintain its status even after they achieve their immediate legislative goal(s)? Have these leaders realized that even though, they only have 75 members, they represent millions of people who collectively have power that the majority possibly has overlooked?

Good topic!

I used to work in politics and have worked on the Hill for a Democrat. I always wondered why the three minority groups that are represented didn't form such a caucus. There are some heavyweights in the Hispanic, Asian, and Black Caucuses so i guess it was only a matter of time. I think that this is a caucus that will transcend past the post-Katrina debates and make some effective choices in Congress.

There are some caucuses that were put together just so legislators would have something on their "political resume." However, I think that the Tri-Caucus is pulling together forces and truly trying to make a difference for their constituents that feel that they are caught up in this bureaucratic society. I hope they will be able to feed off of each other to increase their potential and not get caught up in egos and glory.

Long overdue

I think it's great and I would like to see more collaboration between groups like NAACP, MALDEF, La Raza, etc.

It only helps us and makes us stronger as a country, to unite. ESPECIALLY now.
