San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy shoots airman

This is really f*cked up. If you listen to the video the cop tells the guy to stand up, then shoots him when he does. After he shoots the guy the tells the guy to "shut the f*ck up" several times, like getting shot doesn't hurt or anything.

Wow. Damn.

I saw this on the Today show yesterday morning and was really disturbed. You could hear the airman say "I'm on your side, I'm military" and the cop just kept yelling "get up, get the **** up". The airman clearly said "I'm getting up now" and was being totally cooperative. They're going to have a hard time getting out of this one...

Another day in the life of Southern California...

I'm tellin' yah, these fools are trigga happay...

Yeah. It was FOUL to shoot an Airman. And good that the FBI is investigating. And then the chit was caught on tape.

Fools, I'm tellin' yah. Bringin' back the days of the 92 riots...

**** I don't know if this is true or not *****

I heard from a co-worker that the cop who shot the guy was confused at the time of the incident. The police officer MEANT to tell the airman to "shut up" but instead accidently told him to "stand up". When the guy stood up he shot him because he didn't know why the guy stood up.( well, he did tell him to stand up, not shut up). I wonder if this excuse is gonna fly?

Uniformed Police in this country hide behind their badge way too much.

Nope.

You beat me to the punch on that one. This deputy could be in deep scatology.

I wish the audio on the tape was a little better, though, to know the rest of the conversation.

(ETA that some say there was a third voice who may have yelled "Get up," instead of the officer. That could make a difference)

In the end, though, "confusion" is no excuse for a law officer shooting someone.

Especially when he was not only the one who was confused, but also causing the confusion.

i'm sure they are a little more than pissed. Pissed is when you stub your toe, or when you miss an easy question on a math test.

I'm sure that he will get an Article 15 at the least. He may likely get discharged though.

That's gonna depend entirely on the circumstances of the situation. Most definitely the 'line of duty' determination ain't gonna cover treatment for the bullet wound. At the very least, he'll get an LOR for an attack of the dumbass by hanging out with the wrong crowd.
