ABC News Anchor Seriously Injured

Hopefully both Woodruff and Voght make complete recoveries.

Wrong place, wrong time.

Besides Woodruff, Voght is reportedly a really outstanding shooter (our word for videographer) with several EMMYS. It's nice that he isn't forgotten next to the "star."

They are both "stable" now and, hopefully, will fully recover.

I heard this morning that Woodruff and hsi wife were a huge help to David Bloom's wife and family after his untimely death. Reportedly, Bloom's wife flew overseas with Woodruff's wife to visit him.

I can't imagine what those families are going through right now, but I thought that it was a nice story that those families and anchors (from competing networks, no less) have been so supportive of each other.

I'm not in news reporting, but I know a few people who are, and it seems to be a very small community in NYC. It's not unusual to see local reporters switch stations or go to national news. All of the local reports included personal anecdotes about their experiences with both men.

I hope both of these men make complete recoveries. I heard that more reporters have been killed in Iraq than were killed during the Vietnam War.

It is just that. Consider that most reporters and shooters meet others because they're constantly convering the same stories. That's true at every level, from the smallest TV market to the networks.

Additionally, while reporters/crews are highly competitive during the "day," they often stay at the same hotels, etc. and become good friends "after hours."

I'm glad the competetion is friendly then. I hope they get better, I've been watching ABC news a lot lately.

Kind of interesting that Brian Williams said much the same thing as I did above at the end of NBC Nightly News tonight.

Before anyone asks, yes, he's been to Iraq to report, too.
