Is there a new member of the Bush family?
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush says Bill Clinton has become so close to his father that the Democratic former president is like a member of the family.
Former President George Bush has worked with Clinton to raise money for victims of the Asian tsunami and the hurricane disaster along the U.S. Gulf Coast. Asked about his father and Clinton, Bush quipped, "Yes, he and my new brother." "That's a good relationship. It's a fun relationship to watch," Bush said in an interview with CBS News broadcast on Sunday. While attending Pope John Paul's funeral, Bush said, "It was fun to see the interplay between dad and Clinton. One of these days, I'll be a member of the ex-president's club. ... I'll be looking for something to do." for full article.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060129/...k_bush_clinton |
I saw that interview this morning. It was a good interview. It was good to hear Bush offer insight into his personality and human side. I enjoyed it. I also liked what he said when he said that he had learned that he and Clinton had a lot in common in terms of how they view the office of the Presidency.

A few months ago, around the time they were working on Katrina relief together, I heard an interesting analysis of their relationship. They talked about how being the President of the US is such a unique situation that the ex-Presidents always bond, simply because they understand each other in a way that nobody else ever can. Makes sense to me...

"And you know, he says things that makes it obvious -- that makes it obvious to me that we're kind of, you know, on the same wavelength about the job of the presidency. Makes sense, after all, there's this kind of commonality," he said.
--President George W. Bush Please, don't tell Hoosier about this! I worry about his heart. |

Well, I believe history will show that Clinton kicked Bush the elder's butt -- that's how he became President.
