Cronkite to wed?
 

Having grown up watching Cronkite, you just can't help wanting to see the man happy...


Walter Cronkite looks like he's getting married to his new girlfriend, Joanna Simon, a New York City realtor and singer Carly Simon's big sister.

"We are keeping company, as the old phrase used to be," Cronkite told a reporter Tuesday. "I'm not making any moves immediately. I don't think it's proper."

"My wife has only been gone less than a year. I'll wait until that year has passed, at least," he said.

(As I recall, Carley, and thus her sister, are of the Simon branch of the Simon and Shuster publishing firm)

Good for him - it must be horrible losing a spouse, especially after all of those years, so if he can be happy more power to him.

I think you're correct about the Simon family; Carly's younger brother happens to be an excellent freelance photographer. He spoke to one of my journalism classes in college and gave a great presentation.
