Skating with the Stars?
 

What is this?!? FOX has Skating with the Stars. Does anyone else find this disturbing? I'm scared for the experienced skaters. It premires tonight...

FOX's Skating With the Stars

I do have to say I am amused by the people picked for the show:
# Actor/comedian Dave Coulier ("Full House") with two-time Olympic figure skating medalist Nancy Kerrigan;

# Olympic decathlon gold medalist and television personality Bruce Jenner with world champion pairs figure skater Tai Babilonia;

# Actor Todd Bridges ("Diff'rent Strokes") with three-time U.S. national pairs figure skating champion and world championship medalist Jenni Meno;

# Actress Kristy Swanson ("Dude, Where's My Car?", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") with two-time Olympic pairs figure skating medalist and world champion Lloyd Eisler;

# Singer/songwriter/actress Deborah Gibson with four-time world figure skating champion Kurt Browning;

# Television personality, reporter and weather forecaster Jillian Barberie ("Good Day LA," "Fox NFL Sunday," "Good Morning, Miami") with three-time U.S. pairs figure skating champion and world championship medalist John Zimmerman.

I watched it, and I thought it was a lot more challenging than Dancing with the Stars. However, most of the famous people are experienced skaters. Uncle Joey plays hockey, they showed that all the way back on Full House. That Jillian chick was an awesome skater, I think she took lessons up until she was in high school, and obviously she is in shape. The Different Strokes dude rollerskates, which is different, but still involves balance and athleticism. I think they said Kristy Swanson teaches kids how to ice skate - I could be wrong.

I'm definitely going to watch because of all the falls and spills they showed on the commercials while hyping this up. It just so much more exciting than Dancing with the Stars. I think these people show a lot of talent, I would predict Jillian to win.

I taped last night's episode and can't wait to watch, but watching the previews for the past few weeks I've been getting that much more excited (this season of Dancing with the Stars just didn't seem as "great" as last season - maybe it has to do with the stars?)

I taped it last night, too. Jillian was awesome! Her performance was close to perfect! Todd had me cracking up! I have never seen someone get their groove on in ice skates! LOL

This is so exciting, as I'm going to start back with lessons soon! I took lessons & was fairly decent when I was a kid, and decided it would be a good way to get some winter exercise.

Or break a few more bones, we'll see!

I loved it! My mother is a former professional ice skater, and I can't wait to hear what she thought of it.

I was quite impressed with all of the performances. As a kid, my mother tried to make an iceskater out of me (I ended up being a judo player instead!) She literally had me on the ice from the time I could walk... and I know from my bruises how difficult some those things they did were. I've got to give them a lot of credit.

Also-- I thought it was REALLY funny when "Uncle Joey" grinded down his toe picks.

Whoa, you were a Judo player? I don't remember being called a player when I was in Judo.

But I am from Wisconsin and I started drinking at the age of what, six?!
