Valparaiso University

Well valparaiso University just finsihed recruitment this weekend and I have as accurate of results as I could obtain.

They switched to a new way of doing releases and that has helped keep the drop out rate down a lot. Every girl that went to a pref night received a bid which is usually unheard of.

Kappa Delta: 12!!!(quota)
Chi Omega: 12 (quota)
Delta Delta Delta: 18 (quota additions: I'm so proud of these girls!)
Kappa Kappa Gamma: 9
Gamma Phi Beta: 12
Pi Beta Phi: I am unsure of this number exactly but I have heard 10, if anyone knows for sure feel free to correct me.

Calling all Green Book experts!

If quota is 12, how can a GLO take 18 - even IF Quota Plus exists! Or could they, between snapbids & the fastest COB in history, take the six more?

ok, hopefully this is somewhat right, considering i don't what numbers are at Valpo. MOI says quota additions cannot exceed more than 5% of total and QAs are not designed to fill space in TOTAL. So, in essence, each chapter should have only taken 1 QA. However, it is possible to go over the 5% on certain occassions, but it is really discouraged since it could cause there to be really uneven nm classes.

Now, if a chapter is below total, even after bid matching, they can snap bid. Again, this is only to fill spaces in QUOTA. It appears that snap bidding is not what caused the excess.

If they are below total after bid matching and snap bids, they CP may ask the chapter if they wish to extend a bid <to anyone not originally on their list, provided they did not already receive a bid from another chapter>. So, if Susie isn't on ABC's bid list and doesn't receive a bid from another chapter, then ABC can contact her and offer a bid. This may be what happened, but hard for me to know for sure.

the part in <> was added by me and is an assumption based on what is in the MOI.

Please correct if I'm wrong.

If they guarantee bids, then they fill to match bids whenever possible, even if it means going over the 5% rule.

I'm not to sure about how it worked since I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of bid matching. I am happy for them though, they are graduating 23 seniors this year and that would have cut the sorority in half or possibly more. I too belive that it was just as long as there were matching bids they gave them out.

Also:
Pi Beta Phi did make quota at 12
and Kappa Kappa Gamma has cobed to make a total of 10
Kappa Delta had a member who was cobed from the fall but was unable to get initiated due to time constraints, she joins this spring pledge class to make the total 13 :)

Congrats to ALL the Valpo sororities! :)

Thanks for the explanations - and congratulations to both the New Members & their new Chapters!

I have a very good friend who works at Valpo, and she is continually impressed with the sorority women she's seen. She'll have a daughter there in two years...
