Confused about COB

I have a question about COB (continous open bidding). I went thorugh rush but was released before the preference round, if I was invited back to a party then I would have went through preference. That's where I ended. So I was wondering if I am still eligible for COB b/c I'm not sure if I signed a preference card before being released. As you can tell I'm very confused

or does it depend what college it is b/c they may have different policies on eligibility....

Thanks in advance on any insight into this :D

If you signed a pref card but didn't get a bid from that sorority you're still eligible for COB. The only way you wouldn't be was if they offered you a bid and you turned it down.

Absolutely you are eligible for COB.

If you had signed a preference card and received a bid, you would be bound to that sorority for one year and you wouldn't be allowed to COB into another sorority. But that isn't the situation you're in... you were released. So, yes, you are eligible for COB.

If you didn't attend any preference parties then you didn't sign a preference card .

NPC policy is that you are eligible for COB unless you received and declined a bid received from a chapter during formal recruitment.

So even if you had signed a preference card, you didn't received a bid so you are eligible for COB.

Thanksies! I was talking about this with my rho chi before being released and she never mentioned that I was ineligible but then got confused b/c I was unsure if I signed a pref card.

So okay, the pref card is after preference not before, makes sense. Just making sure b/c I did not want to the greek life advisor asking something I should have realized.
