Hello everyone, I need PR ideas!
Hi Everyone,
I have always heard about this site, so I thought it was about time that I join. Also, I need a little help. You see, I was recently slated as public relations chair of my chapter. This has been a weak position for us in the past, nobody has really known what to do with it. We're hoping to give PR new responsibilities, but we need some ideas to get the ball rolling. What responsibilities do your PR chairs have? I was thinking about publishing a montly alumni newsletter, but that's all I've got. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE any ideas or suggestions that you may have. Thank you so much! |
What group is your target?
Alumnae? Non-Greeks? Other sororities? Fraternities? Faculty? Neighbors in the fraternity/sorority housing community? Parents? National? |
Not exactly sure yet. The options are wide open. Here are some things I came up with. Let me know what you think.
City - press releases for our events in local newspaper and social papers. Statewide: we have formal presentation coming up, and I want to send a press release to each new initiate's local newspaper. Non-greeks- sponsor an event at our Late Night in the Union program Other sororities/fraternities - send congratulatory notes for success in their philanthropy events; send scantrons with good luck note around mid-term/finals; post banners on the house with member's achievements on campus, in Chi O etc.. I believe the previous PR officer produced an alumnae newsletter, I have never seen one, but I suppose I should continue this. We already send teacher thank you's during teacher appreciation week. I'm hoping to work with promoting our large philanthropy event, a tennis tournament. I can basically do as much or as little as I want for any audience. I don't want to do anything halfway, so I'd like to have something for everyone. |
I think all of your ideas sound great.
Remember, people support what they help to create, so if the chapter has some input (i.e., open a committee meeting up to all interested participants, have a small group brainstorm, etc.) they are more likely to feel ownership in the event. Let us know how it turns out. (Oh, and WELCOME to Greek Chat!) :) |
