Winter Leadership Retreat: Celebration of Brotherhood

So...anyone here attending?

I'll be there representing Theta-Delta Zeta of Oklahoma City University. I'm really looking forward to it considering all the awry news we've heard out of Headquarters as of late. This might be that nice breath of fresh air those in the know about HQ need.

If you guys have any inside info or details about this I would love to hear it.

I'm looking forward to the piece on the Ritual. I was recently elected the High Phi for our house so I find it particularly relevant now.

Let me know if any of you will be there next Thursday...I would love to look for you guys.

That is a pretty sweet logo- I wonder who made it?

Anyway since they replaced the local concept of conclaves with "General Assembly 2" in wintertime, I predict that the chapters that can easily get there will attend. HOWEVER alot of folks dont live ear Texas, and I suspect they wont go (North East, West Coast etc.)

What foolish reasoning would scrap local events in each conclave to have another GA type located event? My prediction is a poor attendance for anyone outside of 300 miles of San Antonio. And on that note I know the guys from Ship saw it was in Texas and they had to provide a way to get there and said they just didnt feel the need to go. As an alumni, I dont blame them- This is not an idea that will help more people go

I believe Brother Lifesaver was responsible for this one...

President's meeting

One factor driving this mini-LS is the need for the Council of Presidents to meet.

I would prefer regional meetings but the need for the national get together of the CoP almost dictates a single national winter meeting of some sort. The multitude of Texas chapters plus the ability to get to the meeting via low fare carrier Southwest makes Texas a logical choice.

Bill, Brother lifesaver never ceases to amaze Me, How about everyone else! It is an Outstanding Job!!!:)

Lenoxxx, I agree, as I was at two Regionals before the change and miss them greatly where I can attend.

I am sure of course that Financing is a prime factor, but I never understood why they were at some of the most expensive Hotels in the Area. Even though I am sure there was a financial break, it is still expensive.

John, granted Trip distance is hard for many Zetas and expensive, but KC is also a SW Hub and fly it when I can but not like I used to fly.

If and when Possible, I hope We can get back to The Regionals so that more people can get involved, not just the one Member of a Zeta who has to be there, but many more.

Texas has I beleive more Zetas than anyother State, but Regionals can bring many more Active Brothers as Well as Alum Brothers to it.

One thing that I never understood, was it was cheaper for Me to stay at the Hotel when I was 25 minutes away from home.

I have mentioned this before, but since there are so many Brothers on GC from all over, try having Zetas put more emphasis on the High Rho to get more Alums back into focaus and more money will come in on local and National Level.

I have conversed with Lynn Chipperfield and he is in agreement along with The National President of AGD. It needs to be started at the Local level, but pushed at the National level for it to work.

Lets just keep up the Great work by one and All.

Again this is nice theoretical thinking with the COP, but there are more chapters in proximity in the northeast in about 4 states than there are in Texas, however I know that if Leasdership Seminar for the nation was in Delaware alot of people would not go. We are making the fraternity more non-accessible now for everyone outside of Texas and the surrrounding states.

So in reality by trying to do something better we are making it worse. Wait and see how many chapters dont show up to this event, I think it will be very moderately to poorly attended. Having to use airplanes to go to conclave isnt right. This event was ALWAYS like this.... leave Friday after class and drive somewhere and drive home on a sunday events that were moderately priced and easy to get to (3-4 hour drive tops).

But what do I know?

Any News and Pixs?

We need a fill in fix!:)

aggiepunk83 01-26-2006 01:16 PM

Leadership was fine. It was really relaxed which was great! Maybe about 180 brothers showed up. Getting to chat with other brothers and the grand high zeta was really cool. The ranch was really nice too bad it wasnt near anything. Workshops were really helpful and team building exercies were really cool. Would write more but I have lots to do before I graduate so I'll be seeing yall no time soon. Until then

Tom Earp 01-26-2006 04:26 PM

Come On Bros, there has to be More of You there to fill Us in!

Chris, thanks Bro. Keep hanging in on Grades!!!! That is why you are there!
