25 Year Thetas

Thetas,

As some of you know, I'm an officer in the Lexington Alumnae Chapter here. Each year at our Founder's Day luncheon we always do something special for our 50 and 75 year Thetas. This year a new idea has been proposed that we also recognize our 25 year Thetas.

I was wondering what kind of ideas any of you may have about special recognition gifts for these ladies. Any ideas are much appreciated!

What a GREAT idea! I really like the large pansy charm and the tiny kite charm on the HQ Marketplace.

I now realize that I was a 25 Year Theta last year and missed it! I may have to buy myself that beautiful pen with the crest on it to celebrate!

I personally really want our badge with the sapphires and diamonds and/or the one with the sapphires and pearls on it for myself for being a 5 year Theta :P

We want to do something different than what HQ does for the 50's and 75's. I think the 50's get some kind of pansy pin thingy. I dont know what the 75's get. Does anyone know?

We have probably 15 Thetas or maybe a little more than that that are 25 year Thetas this year. So it needs to be something that doenst break the budget but nice :)

The alumnae committee a few years back talked about reaching out to 25-year Thetas in some way. Of course, for budget reasons, sending them a gift from HQ is prohibitive, but I think you're right on track to include/honor them in Founders Day. It's a huge demographic, and frankly, one under-represented in a lot of ways.

Check out eBay for some ideas. Not really a gift idea, but maybe come up with some things to talk about at Founders Day that were going on 25 years ago (or ask the 25-year ladies to come up with some). A fun trip down memory lane (and probably a hoot for any collegians/young alumnae in attendance).

If you don't come up with an individual gift you like, you could also make a donation to the Foundation or Friendship Fund in celebration of them.

What about...?
This is something that worked well for my chapter when we had a restricted budget to recognize our graduating seniors.

We approached the alumnae and asked them if they would be interested in sponsoring a senior to pay for their graduation stole (SP?) They donated $25 that paid for the graduation recognition and in turn the senior found out who sponsored them. Sisters were also able to help sponsor.

What about approaching a local chapter or other alum about sponsoring a 25 year alum in their "First Theta Milestone."

I don't know what your budget is like but on Redenvelope.com (or maybe at a shop near where you are) they have these personalized compact mirrors that are pretty.
