What movies have you seen over the holidays?
I haven't been to any movies since the summer, but this weekend I saw The Ringer (okay), and Memoirs of a Geisha (pretty decent- beautiful, and stayed true to the book for the most part)
|
King Kong
The bug scene was positively revolting. I could have did without watching giant roaches and worm/slug things crawling all over people and eating them. Yuk Other than that, thumbs up. |
Dick and Jane: for the most part, funny...but it didn't really live up to the Jim Carrey movies I usually enjoy watching
Memoirs of a Geisha: IMO, the book was better and it tried to stick to it as much as possible...but I expected better. Perhaps I was just irritated at the fact that they filmed the movie in California and used CHINESE actresses for the lead roles. The Ringer: At first I felt bad at laughing so much, but after a while I realized that I wasn't laughing at the fact that they were special...the jokes were kind of funny. Glad to know the Special Olympics gave it their approval. Rumor Has It: SO MUCH HYPE. Didn't live up to the hype. I thought I was going to be laughing throughout the movie...but oh well. Jennifer Aniston was great, as usual, though. Shirley MacLaine saved the movie. |

The Producers.
Uma was absolutely gorgeous. Will Ferrel was great. Having Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick being on the Broadway Production means that their performances were great as well. |
King Kong (work group)
War of the Worlds (DVD w/dad) Munich (w/mom and dad) HP - G of F |
Cheaper by the Dozen, Two. My daughters dragged me to it on Christmas day.
Hillary Duff has had so much plastic surgery that she looks like a middle aged chain smoker who spends too much time in a tanning bed. Tom Welling is, well, yummilicious. And, yes, I'm fully aware that I'm waaaay too old to say that ;) |
The Ringer- I was slightly disappointed with it, as my boss said it was hilarious, and I expected it to be much more. I thought the jokes were slightly on the lame side. Johnny Knoxville did a good job in it, though.
Syriana- Very good. Kinda hard to keep all the subplots together, but I thorughly enjoyed it. Except the scene where George Clooney gets his fingernails pulled out. I'm hoping to go see Munich before I go back to school on Saturday. I also want to see the Producers. |

But I agree...she does look like a middle aged chain smoking woman!! LMAO. But I still think she looks 100x better than her rather manly sister. The only movie that i've seen in the theater was Chronicles of Narnia. I soo wanna see Memoirs of a Geisha ever since I realized that I read the book!! lol But I have rented these movies: 40 year old Virgin (awesome movie) Monty Python and the Holy Grail (oldie but a goodie) The Brothers Grimm (it was alright) Serenity (AWFUL!!) |
I've seen a lot actually.
King Kong Chronicles of Narnia The Family Stone Memoirs of a Geisha Pride and Prejudice The Producers |
I only saw The Producers, and we almost walked out in the first 15-20 minutes. But from then on, it was laugh out loud funny!

That is definitely a pet peeve of mine: then movie producers use someone who is of one ethnicity to play a character who is of another ethnicity. I notice that a lot with Italian people playing Hispanics, and vice-versa. It's like the producers are saying, "dark hair, check. Brown eyes, check. Olive skin, check. All those Mediterranean types look the same, anyway." Quote:
