Dick Clark

I stayed home tonight and was watchng the Dick Clark's Rockin` Yew Yrs Eve......Oh my goodness....he was
struggling poor thing. But was glad to see hime back even though this may be his last yr doing it i believe i heard.

Yeah, that was just depressing. I started saying the countdown really loud so wouldn't have to hear him.

jitterbug13 01-01-2006 03:06 PM

I was also happy to see him back but it was really sad to see him the way he is now.:(

I also feel that this is the end of an era....:( I don't think it will be too long before Ryan takes it over.

My bf and I noticed that also. I know they said it was a "minor" stroke, but that is no minor stroke in my eyes. It was so hard to hear him sound like that...nothing like the Dick Clark that I remember.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It was really sad. When we turned in I was in another room, so I thought I was hearing things. It does seem like we've reached the end of an era.

I nearly cried. Isn't it odd how attached we get to someone we don't know personally?

Co-sign with ZTABullwinkle. They said last year (or year before last) it was a minor stroke. He suffered a pretty major one if he had to learn how to walk and talk again. It was not only until last week when Ryan Seacrest said he had a hard time talking until people realized how serious it was.

My uncle suffered a minor stroke two years ago. It affected his speech and walk a little bit. Now, you can't even tell he had a stroke.:D What Dick has must have been pretty big.

And Dick did kiss his wife when the ball dropped!:)

Sounds like I'm glad I didn't see the show.

Clark's wife is named Carrie. I met and worked with him one time about 7-8 years ago, and they had been married 41 years at that time. He made sure he introduced her to me.

He is the consumate professional.

Yes they panned the camera to him and it was so sweet to see him kiss his wife at midnight.

Dick Clark is one hell of a trooper. My Dad, who is 60, tells us he used to watch Bandstand when he was in 9th grade way back in 1959. He won't quit 'till they carry him out. Respect and applause for Brother Clark, DKE Syracuse.

I remember watching an episode of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air when Dick Clark made a guest appearance. Carlton couldn't help but ask Dick, "How come I've aged and you haven't?"

Up until last year it really seemed like Dick had his own personal founation of youth!

Optimist Prime 01-02-2006 08:07 PM

He seems to be getting better though. Hopefully his speech thereapy will be kept up with and he can be all the way back on top. He's been in the business since before I was born. Wow.

I'm not as old (yet) as your dad, but I used to watch Bandstand at least as long ago as Junior High -- probably before.
