Looking for AZD's in MS
I was online today checking out the headquarters website and was sad to see that there are no chapters or Alumnae associations in Mississippi.
I'm hoping that there are other AXiD alumns in the greater Jackson, MS area. If you are I'd love to hear from you! I've just recently moved to the Jackson area, and now that I've gotten my life under control (somewhat) I'd really like to start meeting people! I am really glad to have found this site! I read about it in a post on classmates.com in the Groups-Fraternities/Sororities section. Hope to hear from you soon! TB |
Well, I'm not in Mississippi, but welcome to GreekChat anyway!
What chapter are you from and when did you graduate? |
If you are interested in starting an alumnae association or just want to locate other sisters in your area, contact FHQ. They can pull a list according to a zip code match and email it to you. As I recall, it is not in an excel format or wasn't back in the day, so it can be hard to navigate, but that gives an AWESOME start and there is always a sister who will respond. One will hang out and then others will follow. Trust me!
So if you like near Jackson, make a list of all zips in and around the Jackson metro area (does Jackson have a metro area???) ...within a decent driving distance of the city and email it.....probably to the Alumnae MSC (get from the website). |

Clinton Raymond Ridgeland Florence Madison Canton Richland Byram Terry Brandon Flowood There are a few more... but, these are off the top of my head. These cities are within 20 minute drive of Jackson. With chapters in LA, AL, and TN you will probably find alumnae in the area. |

Thanks for the helpful info. I will email FHQ with a list of Zip Codes and see if I can't find a few other sisters hanging out. I'd really love to see a chapter colonized at Ole Miss or Mississippi State. I can't believe there isn't one right now! TB |
AXD at Ole Miss
Alpha Xi Delta started their colony in fall of the 1969 and they remained on campus until December of 1976. From the Fall of 1971 till December of 1976 the chapter lived in the "Old Chancellor's Home", which is the current Barnard Observatory near the Ole Miss Student Union. The chapter name was Zeta Gamma. My best friend's mother was an Alpha Xi Delta at Ole Miss ( and her mother (my friend's grandmother is a big Alpha Xi alumna from Memphis) and anyway perhaps one day when we get another sorority at Ole Miss it could be Alpha Xi! Also, an AOII alumna I know met an Alpha Xi alumna who lives in Oxford now...you might want to ask your headquarters for a list and perhaps ya'll can meet up! |
Wow. I never knew. Thanks for the info.
