Derby Days
 

Hey i was just wondering what you guys like best about Derby days and what events the different chapters do and who won. This year at UNF, Alpha Chi Omega won...totally killing last years champs Delta Gamma. Here we have pledge slave auction, banner contest, scavenger hunt, field events, derby pagent(this years derby queen is a ZTA), golden derby find, and of course...the parties duh! So what does everyone else do?

I love the derby chase! Me and a couple of my sisters drove all around the UCF area chasing down this one Sigma Chi. We finally cornered him in his parking lot and chased him all around his apartment complex until he finally forfeited. It was so much fun! Zeta Tau Alpha has been the winner for the past couple of years. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

No, I missed it. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif I was next door at the Kappa Sigma house and by the time I went to walk over to Sigma Chi, I was in the middle of trying to break up a fight between two of my friends. You know Veronica and Lindi? That's so cool!

At my school...(I don't sound like I graduated 6 months ago, do I! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif ) Derby Days is in the spring so it always fun outdoor activities.

My favorites were Sigma Swing, Sign a Sig and the Lip Sync competition.

For Sigma Swing the guys set up a swing set in the middle of campus and someone had to be swinging on it 24-7. The sororities had to serve 2 hrs each in the afternoons and the coaches were on in the middle of the night. So we would bring them treats and keep them company. We also had to decorate the swing set with our letters. And chalk up the surrounding areas. As you can imagine in a competition like that, sororities with simimlar letters would "modify" eachothers. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif Luckily we didn't have that prob with our own letters. But I thought it was tacky of the girls in the other sororities to do that.

With Sign a Sig we'd sign our names and letters all over the guys Derby Days shirts. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Man-handling guys is always fun! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

And with the lip-sync competition we'd come up with a skit that was funny and had song and dance numbers. While lip-syncing the entire thing. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Pretty hard actually. This is the most cut throat competition of the week. It's so much fun seeing how many coaches were coaxed into drag!

Then at the end of the week we'd have a huge service project on Saturday with the Derby Celebration in the evening. For a few years the guys had the party before the Saturday morning project...turn out is much better now. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif (for the project!)
